Head of School
Dear Mercy Families,

As your daughters approach final exams, stress can skyrocket and the promise of summer vacation can seem strangely far off. So I thought I would keep this simple and just offer you two quick resources that you can read and pass on to your daughters.

Sometimes, I find inspirational quotes well . . . inspiring! Click HERE for 25 Motivational Quotes to Get You Through Exams . You’re sure to find a few that resonate with you and your daughter and, who knows, maybe they can help spark dinner table conversation. Plus, they are all very Instagram worthy, which I’m sure will be appreciated.

Stress is not always a bad thing and knowing that can help all of us deal with it more effectively. Click HERE to read about How to Overcome Exam Anxiety . It’s a very helpful article which does everything from define anxiety and list its possible effects to offer concrete advice on how to cool nerves and tackle those final exams. Of course, you can also remind your daughters about our amazing Wellness Center where they can always find a place to de-stress and unwind, even if just for a few minutes.

Dear Mercy Families,

I want to update you on a couple important events that are coming up as we enter the final weeks of the 2017-18 school year:

Finals Schedule
In an effort to provide students with more time to study for finals, and to help combat some of the stress associated with that time of year Mercy is piloting a new format for finals.

Rather than the traditional finals schedule with two exams each day for three consecutive days, finals will be spread out so that students do not take finals on consecutive days. Below is the finals schedule for this Spring.
  • Friday, May 25 - World Languages, Science
  • Tuesday, May 29 - English, Math
  • Thursday, May 31 - Social Studies, Religious Studies

Monday, May 28 is a holiday and Wednesday, May 30 will be a study day for students (and grading day for teachers). There is no school these two days for students - Mercy is closed. It is our hope that this schedule will enhance student’s ability to study, de-stress, and take proper care of themselves between exam dates.

Academic Awards Assembly
As is our tradition, the last day of school for Mercy students is the Academic Awards Assembly, taking place on Friday, June 1. The day starts at 9 a.m. and ends by 11:30 a.m. Families are welcome to join us that morning in the theater to celebrate the Class of 2018 .

Senior Parents: Graduation Information

Dear Mercy Families,

Graduation approaches! We just want to take the time to remind you of a few items:

COMMENCEMENT PHOTOGRAPHS
Families wishing to purchase photographs taken at Commencement may do so by ordering at events.lifetouch.com/mercysanfranciscoca . Pictures will be available a few days after the event.

TICKETS
Each student is limited to six (6) tickets. Additional tickets will not be handed out by Mercy High School. No exceptions will be made. This is due to church capacity at Holy Name Church and fire safety laws. Students may find additional tickets among their classmates. The selling of tickets is prohibited and can prevent a student from graduating.

CHURCH ETIQUETTE
Reverent behavior is expected during the entire Eucharistic Liturgy Celebration and diploma conferral at Holy Name Church. This year, the Eucharistic Liturgy will end with the final blessing prior to the conferral of diplomas. This will allow for the sanctity of the liturgy to be preserved. We ask that all attendees respect sacred space and refrain from anything beyond clapping. We want to preserve our relationship with Holy Name Church and insure that Mercy High School can continue to use the space long after the class of 2018 has graduated.

In respect of the sacredness of this Church and in order that our professional photographer and videographer are unimpeded, we respectfully ask that you do not use the following during the Graduation Eucharistic Liturgy:

  • No video cameras or flash photography
  • No balloons and flower leis
  • No noisemakers or other distracting items in the Church

The Administration, Celebrant and the Pastor of Holy Name Church thank you and hope that you will respect and follow our guidelines and religious traditions. The Church will remain open after the ceremony for photo opportunities.

MANDATORY PRACTICE
  • May 31, 2:00 - 4:00 pm (Holy Name) - Bring shoes, cap, and gown

DRESS
  • White Dress or White Blouse and White Dress Pants
  • White cap, white gown, shoes (red, nude, or white)
  • Caps may not be decorated
  • Only school-issued stoles, pins, etc. may be worn

SENIOR PARENTS: Congrats - Your Daughters Did It!
Dear Parents of the Class of 2018,

As hard as it is to believe, our daughters have completed four years of high school, and in just a few short days, they will be graduating from Mercy High School! What an incredible journey this has been for all of us - from freshman orientation until today.

As your Senior Class Representatives, we have enjoyed getting to know you and sharing laughter and even a few tears with you on this journey. Thank you for your support of Mercy High School and our daughters. This year would not have been as amazing as it was without it.

As we prepare to send our daughters on their next life journey, may “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6: 24-26

In Christ,

Leah Abuan and Christy Wood
