Dear Mercy Families,
We had a double-header on Friday, November 2! The first event was our Women’s Leadership Conference. The day was an opportunity for our students to have time to learn about different career paths. Choosing from more than 30 sessions, most offered by Mercy alums, the girls participated in three smaller sessions after hearing our keynote speakers. There was a lot of energy in the air as they learned about careers—some of which they had never considered before. A big thank you to our development staff for the massive organization the day required!
The second big event was a visit from four representatives from the Mercy Education System of the Americas (MESA). MESA is the arm of the Sisters of Mercy which governs all of our schools. Scheduled to have a board meeting in Burlingame that weekend, the MESA Board divided into three groups to visit the local Mercy schools: Cristo Rey (Sacramento), Mercy (Burlingame), and, of course our school. They spent the day touring the school, talking with students and faculty, participating in some of the Women’s Leadership Conference activities, and meeting with our Mercy High School Board. To put it mildly, they loved our school! MESA Chair Sister Richard Mary Burke, RSM commented that “the atmosphere was alive with excitement and Mercy.” She added, “We are very encouraged for the future of Mercy High School and look forward to all that is to come.”
I close by wishing you and all your family a grace-filled time as we celebrate Thanksgiving. We invite those of you who are free to join us at our Thanksgiving liturgy on Monday, November 19, at 9:45 a.m. Father Greg Boyle, well-known for his work with gang members in Los Angeles, will be our celebrant. Please know the gratitude all of us at Mercy feel to have the opportunity of working with your daughters—thank you!
In Mercy,
Sister Carolyn

Fr. Greg Boyle is not only the author of our all-school book, but founder of Homeboy Industries—an organization that provides hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community.
Mass will be followed by a discussion led by Fr. Greg Boyle.

Mercy Employees Have Reached 100% Giving
—
Join Us!
Mercy needs your support now more than ever.
Every single Mercy employee
—
both full-time and part-time
—
has donated to the Employee Giving Campaign to reach 100%. We are still counting on many of our families to reach the same milestone in the parent community.
The Parent Pledge gives parents the opportunity to help offset the financial gap of $4,700 between tuition and the actual cost of educating your daughter. We strive for 100% parent participation, so we can leverage funds from other donors
—
but we are falling short. We know you want to help Mercy reach its goal.
Your gift of any amount truly makes a difference!
You can make a significant impact on our Mercy community today.
- To make a one-time gift this year of any amount, or to make a pledge for a monthly gift donate online now.
- To showcase your continued commitment to Mercy, download and fill out the Parent Pledge Form to make a pledge for your four years at Mercy (or your remaining two or three).
We will be in touch to have a dialogue with families who have not yet made their contribution.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
