This week's Bible Story

Ruth and Naomi

Ruth 1–2

Be kind to the people closest to you

Memory Verse

“You are God’s chosen people. You are holy and dearly loved. So put on tender mercy and kindness as if they were your clothes. Don’t be proud. Be gentle and patient.” Colossians 3:12, NIrV

Beyond Sunday

Ask

At a meal this week, have everyone at the table share something kind about each person. Focus on one individual and have everyone speak. You may even want to consider writing the kind comments down on a sheet of paper and giving them to each person after the meal.

Also ask “What is something you are looking forward to doing or someone you are looking forward to seeing this week?”

Pray

“God, help us not to forget that those closest to us deserve our kindness every day.”

We have 16 slots for Mission Trip this summer. Northway youth and sponsors will travel to Albuquerque, NM for our Be The Neighbor Mission Experience, which is July 7-13. We need to make a firm confirmation of the participant list by March 1. Please fill out the interest/registration form here. Cost to participate is $400/person. We will do fundraising where youth can earn credits toward their participation in the fundraising. Youth grades 6-12 and adults will spend the week in Albuquerque to learn about the area's long and diverse cultural history, and will have the opportunity to visit the historic site of one of the 19 indigenous Pueblos. The week will include both service and educational experiences. Our group will speak daily with expert guest leaders, visit the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, spend a day in a local Pueblo area, learn about the Doctrine of Discovery, and have conversations about practicing cultural humility. YWe will have time together each evening for a justice-based Bible study and discussion focused on learning about root causes, systemic issues, policy and advocacy, so that we may go back to our community with a new awareness, understanding, and vision to work for justice beyond the mission trip week.

Group trip leaders include Chesna Riley and Rachel Schawler. Trip organizer is Pastor Ken Crawford. Contact the church office with any questions.

We will contact you to submit a brief medical form with emergency contact information and release of liability.
