April is Autism Acceptance Month!

At DFX, we recognize that each person with Autism has unique strengths and needs. We celebrate individual differences and work every day to help children who are neurodiverse thrive by offering therapeutic support that meets their particular needs. We believe that collaboration with parents, caregivers, educators, and others in their ecosystem is the key to expanding understanding of how to support children with Autism so they can reach their full potential.

Child Always Dysregulated?

Do you sometimes forget your best strategies when your child becomes dysregulated?

Sometimes it helps to listen to a podcast to reinforce what you already know, and you may even pick up some new things to try.

The DFX therapy team recommends the Robyn Gobbel's podcast series "Child Always Dysregulated? Try this!"

Do you feel like you'll never have a full night's sleep?

When your child doesn't sleep through the night or nap reliably, the entire household can be off-balance. While there is no one strategy that works for every child, there are a range of techniques that can help your child become an independent sleeper. If your family is struggling because of your baby's sleep challenges, you may want to consider working with Mimi Goss, OT, who is a sleep consultant certified through the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management. She can guide you through the sleep-training process and help you establish healthy, science-based habits to create an individualized sleep program that works for your family.

Parent Possible Conference

Meade McCue, PsyD, and Rebecca Nofer, MS, OTR/L, gave a presentation at the Parent Possible Home Visiting Conference in Lakewood, CO, on April 12. Their talk focused on care mapping, an innovative practice we use to create a visual representation of a child's ecosystem that helps identify what is working and where additional support is needed.
