Prayer for the Care of Children

Almighty God, heavenly Father, you have blessed us with the joy and care of children: Give us calm strength and patient wisdom as we bring them up, that we may teach them to love whatever is just and true and good, following the example of our Savior Jesus Christ.  Amen ( BCP #46, p. 829)
How is our culture deceiving and misdirecting our next generation?

Listen to Stuart Hall's interview on Parent Network Podcast(#15). Stuart discusses the illusions that our culture has created, and then talks about:
Who is God really?
What is Authentic Faith?

Parenting has changed since the parents of today grew up, and parents must be ready to parent in today's world, in new ways to respond to the influences our children are facing.
Confused about how to talk to your child or grandchild about sexuality? We live in a culture where many of today’s youth and young adults are embracing a life and seeking truth and life in things other than the one available to them in Jesus Christ. Project 619 a movement designed to empower people to live out relationships in a way which brings TRUE LIFE, centered on Christ. This initiative seeks to openly discuss healthy relational perspectives while at the same time point the hearer towards Jesus Christ. Issues discussed include healthy sexual behavior, and how this is impacted by insecurities, depression, diminished self-worth, and shame from past experiences, which can all influence relationships of all types. Save the Date: Grandparent's Day at CSMSG

Grandkids invite your grandparents and grandparents invite your grandkids. The Church of St. Michael and St. George is holding Grandparents Day on Sunday, September 16th, 2018. All grandparents and grandkids are encouraged to participate in this special day of worship and activities. Church School students may show their grandparents what happens on Sunday mornings at CSMSG. Grandparents may experience our Chapel and Church School program with their grandkids. Youth Ministry students and their grandparents may attend the 9:15am service together. All are welcome to share their faith with their family. Additional details about Grandparents Day will be available as the date approaches.
CSMSG Grandparents of Parent Link
The Grandparents of Parent Link will meet again on Sunday, August 26, from 9:00 to 9:50 in the Wydown Meeting Room. Come join the prayers and the conversation. All are welcome, including non-grandparents who function like grandparents in nurturing the spiritual lives of children.

Our prayer for our children and grandchildren was based on the very succinct and very beautiful prayer “For the Care of Children” that leads this Newsletter above. As Barb says, the Book of Common Prayer is such a Treasure!

Summer Trip to Nicaragua: Unfortunately, due to political instability in Nicaragua this mission trip has been cancelled for this summer, however, ongoing financial support will continue. The Nicaragua Mission Team has planned a local service opportunity to build a playground at Highland Elementary School on August 18. The district is partnering with Boys and Girls Club, Kaboom, Pacific Life and Edward Jones for the build. They expect dozens of volunteers from the surrounding communities to participate. RGSD will provide all materials, a volunteer t-shirt, gloves and other safety equipment. They are doing some prep work for the build, but the actual build day (August 18) is the only day that they need volunteers. Volunteers will need to fill out a form and sign a basic liability waiver. The location is: 174 Shepley Dr., St. Louis, MO 63137 on Saturday, August 18 from 8 AM to 3:00 PM. Contact Jennifer McGrath ASAP if you want to participate in this project.
