SBC Cash Lottery: Our annual lottery was launched just in time for Christmas! This year’s lottery will run from Wednesday, November 13, 2019 to Wednesday, January 15, 2020 with a Grand Prize draw of $10,000!. Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20. A great way to sell tickets is through social media. Making a post on Facebook has allowed a number of families to sell their tickets quickly, and in some cases even more than the original 60 they received. These tickets also make a great gift for the hard to buy for person or a great stocking stuffer for Christmas.

Guidance News

During the month of November our Grade 9 and Grade 10 classes participated in a course called The Inquiring Mind. This course was piloted and approved by the Mental Health Commission of Canada and it included four modules related to youth and mental health. The first module focused on the benefits of getting help and explored why youth don’t seek help when they need it. The second module was called Caring for Yourself and Others and it involved challenging the stigma and negative attitudes related to mental health issues. This module also offered suggestions on taking action to care for oneself and others.  Module number three gave students guidance on when to seek help by exploring a mental health continuum. Module four was called Building Resilience. It focused on coping strategies that students can avail of when confronted with a mental health issue.

Thank you to Ms. Walsh and Mr. Mulrooney for allowing this course to be delivered during their classes.
