June 2019
Dear Parents,

As I write this letter, we just finished another encouraging Eagle Advising Day. Getting the chance to meet and visit with new students and their families is one of the highlights of my job. Many of you probably remember this experience, all the information and paperwork, meeting staff and faculty, and the feeling of excitement and sadness as you watch your child begin the next chapter of their lives.

This was a special day for me as our third son, who will be attending Northwestern, joined in on this Eagle Advising Day. Although, I’ve been through this a couple of times already, it is always exciting to watch your son or daughter take these next steps toward independence and adulthood.

Although some parents have gone through it before, for each graduating senior this move to college is a brand new experience for them. They may have had brothers or sisters that have gone through this already, but for them this is their journey. This is their story to be written, this is something new and fresh that they have never personally experienced.

Each student is different, some are bold and adventurous, and others are quiet and timid. Some know exactly what they want to do and others have no clue. But for all of them there is the excitement of something new and fresh that is just for them. It may be new friends, professors, experiences, and opportunities – whatever it is, there is an anticipation of great things ahead!

I thought about what I saw during Eagle Advising Day and I was reminded of God’s love and provision for me. As brand new college students look forward to something new and exciting, our God provides new mercies for us each and every day.

In Lamentations 3:22-23 it says, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

I hope that today, you too, are looking forward to something new and exciting from your heavenly Father! I trust that you experience God’s new mercies in your own life and that you witness God’s great faithfulness. And regardless of what you may be facing today, I pray that you know the steadfast love of God that never ceases!

Walking the journey with you,

Tim
PARENT BLOG - By Sarah Arthur, Parent Council
Too often we try to play prophet to “point out what’s wrong with the world” – or our student. If I am going to play prophet, I want to be more focused on what could be than what’s already wrong. Parents, as we approach summer with our continuing or newly graduated students who arrive home struggling to find productivity or their place in the world, how can we zero in on our patience and their potential?

OPPORTUNITIES
Invite the Youth Crew, a team of Northwestern students, to come to your church this fall. This is a free service to local churches! Our students will use games, worship, testimonies, and more to interact with the teenagers at your church. It is our way to support the local church, encourage youth leaders, and share about God's love with teenagers.

"Defining Moments" was our theme this past year and what a blessing to see how God moved in your churches. As we plan a new theme for the 2019-20 school year, it is time to begin scheduling! Contact us today!
Who wins with an internship? (Answer: everyone!) It’s not often that you find a win-win-win scenario, but internships are that rare gem that benefit everyone involved. This summer, Northwestern is sending out more than 75 student interns across the Twin Cities, the U.S. and around the world to serve and learn.
