First Day of School
Tuesday, August 24 is the first day of school! Reminder - this is a late start day so classes begin at 8:39am.

Class of 2025: Upcoming Events
All incoming freshman and parents are requested to attend the Freshman Orientation on Friday, August 20 at 7pm. The student Lock-In will follow the Orientation. Please refer to the letter you received at your home visit or the recent Lock-In email for more information about these events.
The new school year will begin for Freshman on Monday, August 23 with Freshman Academy from 8-11:30am. This day is a full orientation to the academic side of school life, including tips for transitioning to high school, how to be successful in classes and more. Lunch will be provided.

Automatic Tuition Payments for 2021-22

"New" Building Open House
Have you had a chance to see our new spaces yet? This is your chance! On Thursday, August 26th stop by between 4 and 8 pm - tours will be given at the top and bottom of the hour. Hot dogs & brats, chips, and water will be available while you wait. Event is rain or shine. Look for the VL tent by the main entrance!

Buying a New Calculator?
Please refer to the blue handout provided at home visits and class meetings regarding recommendations for scientific and graphing calculators for Valley science and mathematics courses. If you have questions please contact your student's math teacher or Mrs. Doyle at bdoyle@vlhs.com.

From the Faculty and Staff
Thank you, parents, for the Teacher Appreciation gifts given in the spring! With the gifts the Parent Organization was able to purchase a massage chair for the teachers lounge, classroom supplies, coffee & water for the lounge, gift cards for us, and Traveling Tom's coffee for our trip to faculty retreat. Thank you for your generous support and showing your appreciation. We thank you for your prayers and trust in the upcoming school year!

Back to School Night
Parents are invited to join us on Tuesday, September 14 for our annual Back to School Night. Parents will 'walk' their student's day: attend each of their classes, participate in chapel, and hear important presentations during lunch and study hall. The evening begins at 6:30pm, don't be tardy!

22nd Annual Golf Scramble

Mum Sale
The annual Parent Organization mum sale will take place on Friday, September 17 from 1pm until they are sold out! The sale will be in Valley's parking lot. Mums will be $10, cash and carry.

2021-2022 Student Schedules
Schedules for all returning students will be emailed to their VLHS student email account by 5:00 pm on Friday, August 20. Schedules for the Class of 2025 will be printed and handed out at Freshman Orientation and at Freshman Academy. To make a change to your requested courses, contact Mrs. Mueller at lmueller@vlhs.com. Please note that while every attempt will be made, not all change requests can be fulfilled.

Bay City & Saginaw Career Complex Students
Classes start at the career centers on August 30. Both programs should be reaching out to parents and students soon with information regarding the start of school. For Valley's first week of school, Career Center students will need to be at VL in time for chapel (10:45 on Tuesday). Please contact the career centers directly with any questions.

Back to School Materials
You can find a general school "Materials List" here which lists items required/recommended for specific classes. Students will receive any specific material requests from their teachers.

Ear Buds - Each student should keep a set of earbuds at school for personal use.

ESV Lutheran Study Bible - This version of the Bible is used in all religion classes all four years. Order forms will be available at home visits and orientations or you can purchase them directly on your own at cph.org. Bibles are on sale now ($19.99 for paperback and $34.99 for hard cover). We have some available at school for purchase.

A fully-charged device (laptop or Chromebook) - Students may use a previously-owned device or, if interested in purchasing a new device, any brand is acceptable.
