Dear Families:

The end of the school year is almost upon us. The excitement of kinder graduation, end of the year celebrations and yearbooks that remind us of everything we’ve accomplished this year have started to fill the air. It seems like only yesterday we were welcoming you all to this school year, and now here we are, getting ready to say goodbye before the summer break. As I reflect back on this year, I again have to say thank you. Thank you for your support and your commitment to a Catholic, bilingual education. We are pioneers who continue to break ground. Thank you again for sharing your children with me. It’s been a pleasure and a privilege to be able to see them grow throughout the school year. They are truly the best part of my job.

Feeling blessed,
Leticia Oseguera

Dear Families,

Our students have grown so much this year academically, socially, and spiritually. Although the school year has come to an end, the learning will continue through the summer. The world around us provides us many opportunities to put into practice all that we learn in the classroom. During the summer, remember to capitalize on opportunities to read, write, speak, and do math with your children. It is through rich life experiences that children anchor their thinking and continue to develop as biliterate, faith-centered individuals. Enjoy your time together and I can’t wait to see what the 2019-20 school year has in store for us!

MDJDA was the recipient of the 2019 Re-Imagine Catholic Schools Award. Each year the Diocese recognizes one school that is leading the way in innovation, empowering learners and driving student achievement. This year, out of the 49 schools in the Diocese of San Diego, the award was presented to MDJDA. We are extremely proud of our faculty and staff as well as our school community. We are pioneers. The work taking place at MDJDA is transforming our school community and will make an impact in our community at large and the world as our faith-filled, bilingual global leaders go on to make a difference of their own.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations. The students loved having you all on campus. Here is the link to view the Mother’s Day / Father’s Day show. Feel free to share it with friends and family.
One of our main goals this year has been to continue to strengthen and support our dual language program. To that end we created several important partnerships. One of our main partnerships has been with Boston College. MDJDA is now a full member of the Two Way Immersion Network for Catholic Schools (TWIN-CS). This will allow MDJDA to continue to grow and develop its dual language program. The network provides MDJDA the opportunity to continue to work with its dual language mentor, Sally Fox. It also provides access to weekly webinars related to professional development and finally, it will allow for another team of five to travel to Boston College this summer for their summer academy. Mrs. Oseguera along with Mrs. Torres and three teachers will attend a week long conference, at the end of June, along with 19 other Catholic schools with dual language program across the United States. Read more about the network here: .
It is not too late to sign up for summer school. The summer session runs from June 17-July 19. ECEP will be available before and after the academic session. You may enroll and pay online here:
