iready
iReady Reading Diagnostic Window is Sept 9-11!

Next week, students in grades 1- 5 will be completing their iReady Reading Diagnostic during their class time. Students will be on a google meet with their teacher during the diagnostic and teacher's will be monitoring their completion of the diagnostic. We encourage you to watch this video English l  Spanish and review this letter  to better understand what the Diagnostic is and how parents should, and should not, support their student. We want to learn as much as we can about your child in supporting their reading growth and utilizing this diagnostic is just one measure. Please help us learn all we can by providing a quiet space for your child and encouraging them to do their best thinking and learning alone.

Please do not take screenshots or post information about these assessments as this can compromise the diagnostic.

Fall PTA Meetings will be held via ZOOM. Please mark your calendar for our first PTA Meeting at 6 pm on Tuesday, September 15th. We will send out the link when the meeting gets closer. At this first meeting, we will approve our 2020-2021 budget, introduce our committees and opportunities to get involved, and outline modified plans for our fall events. You do not have to be a PTA member to attend the meeting, but only PTA members can vote.

Please take 2 minutes to connect your King Soopers Reward Card to UPark:
  1. Go to www.kingsoopers.com

attendance
UPark Attendance

UPark attendance will be taken by classroom teachers each morning. If your student will be absent, please let our office staff know so that we can mark the absence as excused.

Because DPS has launched a new communication tool, called School Messenger, UPark will no longer be using the Flyer School App. If you used the app to report absences you can now use the new attendance Google Form found here. This form should also be linked to your student's class Seesaw page soon.

If you are struggling with regular attendance, please reach out to us so that we can help. Please email Eric for support.

enrollment
Enrollment Decisions

Denver Public Schools has announced that families will have until mid-September to make a final enrollment decision for their students, whether they prefer a virtual program or as much in-person learning as health conditions permit. (As was previously announced, all schools will start with remote learning through Oct. 16th). In the next few weeks, DPS will share the information on Covid risks and the health guidelines that will be used to determine when we'll be able to shift safely from remote to some or full in-person learning, as well as a more specific deadline for families to make their final enrollment decision for the first semester. You can view the 2020-21 K-12 Family Guide here.

backpack
Backpacks for Kids Food Program

The Backpacks for Kids Program provides food assistance to UPark families in need by providing bags of nutritious food once per week. We believe every child should be prepared for an active and healthy lifestyle, full of learning and curiosity. We help with this by providing fresh fruit and bread, healthy meals, and nutritious snacks for UPark children who may not have access to such food on the weekends. During remote learning the volunteers of the program are offering two different distribution methods to meet each family's needs. Families may pick up the bags on Fridays from 3pm-4pm at UPark in the UPark parking lot, or have the bags delivered to them each Friday. If your family is currently in need of food assistance, and not already enrolled in the program, please complete this electronic form. If you are currently enrolled in the program, no action is necessary at this time. If you have any questions about the program, or would like more information, please reach out to our School Psychologist, Alicia Vega, by phone at 720-424-3458 or by email at [email protected].
