We’re BA-ACK!
It is great to be back to in-person instruction again, and most, but admittedly not all, students have shared their appreciation for being back together. It will certainly take a few days to get everyone into the swing of things again, but we are back!!
Parents, thank you for your support of our teachers and your students during the recent "Pause" in November and December. The ministry of Christian education is so effective when students understand that parents and teachers value their education. It is important that some of the most important adults (parents and teachers) in students’ lives share the same values. Thank you for your partnership.
I am reminded of how the apostle Paul shared with the Christians in Philippi that he found joy in their partnership in the gospel. Each day, I have been praying that we could return to in-person instruction. Each day, I have included prayers for parents, teachers, or students (by grade level) that God would meet their needs. Each day, I’ve been praying for meaningful learning to take place while we anticipate returning to school. AND, each day, I’ve been praying that our partnership in the ministry we share remains strong whether we are learning virtually or in-person.
Yes, we are back, but I also feel like we have remained partners all along. Thank you! Thank you for your partnership in ministry!

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
The New Year is here! One tradition that our family has each new year is to think back and identify the blessings that came to us in the last year. Our world seems to have the idea that 2020 was full of disappointment and that there is not much to be thankful for. I am sure that some of you may feel that way. So many aspects of our lives were turned upside down in 2020, and the only thing that seemed to remain constant was change.
And yet, through all those changes, Jesus remained the same. In the uncertainty of 2020, Jesus was with us the whole time, working things for the good of those who love Him. His plans for our lives didn't change based on a global pandemic. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 2021 will bring more changes for our lives, and we have no way of knowing what those changes will be. But we know that God will be with us through it all, and He will never change. He will continue to love us, forgive us, and bless us as He has done in the past. As you enter this new year of uncertainty, be comforted by the presence of our God, who does not change!

New Valley Lutheran Athletic Website Coming Soon!
While we are still more than a week away from resuming the winter sports seasons, a new athletic website is in the works to provide a central location for Valley Lutheran athletic news, pictures, and the most up-to-date game schedules. This has been a challenging year for the MHSAA, athletic directors, coaches, and athletes as they deal with the uncertainty and the interruptions to high school sports. The hope is that this new website will help make it easier to navigate these challenges. Look for a link to this new website in the next parent newsletter!

Winter Information Night is Going Virtual!
Do you know any families considering where to send their child for high school next year? Please invite them to check out Valley's first virtual information night on January 21st at 6:30pm! Register at https://forms.gle/CJAeDhkwcs9Z1EFG9. A link to attend the event will be sent the morning of the 21st. Participants will take a virtual tour around the building, hear from school leaders, and have a chance to have their questions answered!

8th hour Virtual Auction Donations
Your student’s 8th hour class will be choosing an item to donate to the Feb. 24-27 virtual auction, and monetary contributions would be appreciated as well as complimentary items. Some ideas include an Instapot or other small appliances, Ring, Fit Bit, earbuds/headphones, 23&Me kit, etc. One larger item will work better with a virtual auction. Look for information from your child’s 8th hour teacher, or better yet, contact him or her and volunteer to help with logistics! If you have general questions, please contact lorimilroy4@gmail.com.

Bakers/Cooks Needed for the Feb. 24-27 Virtual Auction
Take out is still the thing, and if you enjoy cooking or baking, consider offering a food item or a certificate for future use. You can set parameters such as delivery and date limitations. Or, you can have the item available for pick up on Sunday, Feb. 28. The auction committee with help you set guidelines and take care of the certificate. All Types of Items Needed for the Feb. 24-27 Virtual Auction
The auction committee is especially in need of items this year. Could your employer or business provide a certificate or merchandise? Did you take up a COVID hobby and have homemade wine or beer to spare? Gift cards you won’t use? Any items can be sent into the school office. Please include your name for recognition. CLASS OF 2023 INDIVIDUAL MEETINGS
Individual meetings with current sophomores will start next week to talk about the future - career ideas, college ideas, classes, etc. Meetings are being held alphabetically by student’s Academic Seminar hours, so patience is appreciated as we work through the alphabet. Encourage your student to come prepared with questions or ideas.
PE CREDIT WAIVERS (CLASS OF 2022, 2023, & 2024)
All PE Waivers received to date this school year will appear on a student’s report card at the end of the semester. If you did not see one at the end of the year, it means I do not have one on file for you. Students should check Google Classroom for a digital copy they can download and complete.
2ND SEMESTER SCHEDULE CHANGES
Second Semester begins on January 25th. Students who are interested in adjusting their schedules for 2nd semester due to an academic concern should schedule an appointment with Mrs. Mueller to discuss their options.
