Parent Newsletter
Valley's Key Club members continued their tradition of service by packing boxes of essential self-care items to be distributed to Saginaw's homeless men.
Scripture for Advent
A voice cries: "In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken." (Isaiah 40:3-5)

Booster Club Fruit Sale Thank You
Thank you to all churches and people associated in any way with out fruit sale fundraiser. Our appreciation to all buyers, sellers, distributors and helpers for your cooperation and support. Money raised will help support music, drama, athletics and many other activities at Valley. Total boxes sold for 2020 were 343, which equals 9,200 pounds of fruit! Special thanks to Kurt Hofmeister, Kendra Hofmeister, Jeff Roscoe, the Whalen family, Erin Ettline, and Michael Clare.

Extra fruit was ordered and there are still 14 boxes left. Please contact the school office at 790-1676 if you would like to purchase some.

Bargain Shopping? Think VL Auction Baskets
Teacher baskets will look at little more ‘virtual friendly’ this year. Each teacher and his or her class will choose a centerpiece offering such as a small appliance, device or the like rather than solicit many small items. If you are bargain shopping and spot a great buy-one-get-one or think to yourself, “This is too good to pass up,” please consider donating something your child’s class could build a basket around. If you have any questions, please contact Lori Milroy at [email protected] or 989-412-3666. Your child’s second semester 8th hour teacher will share more information in January.
Cooks and Bakers Wanted
Please consider offering a certificate for a homemade food item in the 2021 Valley Lutheran Auction (virtual this year). People working at home or avoiding restaurants would love take outs from a Valley supporter! You can make a complete meal, main dish or a dessert. Certificates will stipulate that they be redeemed at the convenience of the winner and the donor unless the donor would like to specify a month. Further, the donor may list a specific item (e.g. chicken enchiladas, pumpkin roll, etc.) and the number of servings as well as delivery restrictions (e.g. within 10 miles of Bay City, meet at Valley, etc.). Unique offerings such as gluten-free or vegan are also appreciated. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Lori Milroy at [email protected] or 989-412-3666 Thank you!

WINTER 2021 DUAL ENROLLMENT
Students who are intending to Dual Enroll for 2nd semester but have not yet completed registration with VLHS or with their college should take care of this ASAP. Please schedule a virtual meeting with Mrs. Mueller if you have any questions.

SAGINAW COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
All VLHS seniors are eligible to apply for the Saginaw Community Foundation Scholarships. This is one application that can be applied to over 230 LOCAL scholarships. This is where a majority of our graduates receive scholarships in addition to ones offered by their college. The deadline to apply is February 15, but it’s a big application, so get started ASAP at http://www.saginawfoundation.org/site/scholarships/. Mr. Winningham and Mr. Wittig should have also posted resources about this on the Government and Economics Classroom pages.

NEED TO TALK TO MRS. MUELLER?
I am still available via email, a phone call, or a Google Hangout video chat. We can talk classes, AP, Dual Enrollment, career center planning, or anything else you would normally come see me about. Request an appointment via email, and we’ll go from there! Students can also check out the videos Mrs. Mueller will be periodically posting on their Google Classroom “Class of…” page.

ZAPS TEST PREP SEMINAR
ZAPS Test Prep seminars are now being offered virtually for both the SAT and ACT. The seminar will focus on test strategies and tips for approaching any subject area of the exam, as well as short practice tests to put those strategies to use immediately. To register for the seminar, go to www.doorwaytocollege.com or call 877-927-8378.
