Have a great Christmas and break!!

The FINAL year to build your own Mercyhurst!
This is the final year that we're offering the limited-edition Christmas keepsake during the holiday season. The 6th item in this keepsake series depicts Trinity Green and is available to anyone who makes a gift of $20 or more to the Mercyhurst Annual Fund!

Limited quantities of the previous keepsakes (featuring the Performing Arts Center, the Mercyhurst Gates, Christ the King Chapel, the Grotto, and Old Main/O’Neil Tower) are also available if you missed out on one of those!
The Senior Class Gift Committee is excited to announce the selection of the class gift— The Class of 2020 Mike Folga Legacy Scholarship . President Victor and the scholarship selection committee would like to thank all seniors who presented for their compelling and clearly thought-out proposals.

This scholarship recognizes the impact Mike Folga had on the Mercyhurst community and his commitment to serving others. The recipient of our endowed scholarship will be any student experiencing a similar battle whether it be illness, financial or an accident.
Your Student Can Save Time and Money on a Master’s: 4+1 Programs

Your student can start earning credits toward a master’s at no additional cost! As Lakers start selecting courses for the Spring Semester, if your student has extra room in their schedule,  Mercyhurst’s 4+1 programs  could be a great option. With 4+1 programs, undergrads take graduate-level coursework during junior and/or senior years. For most students, graduate course tuition costs are covered in the undergraduate flat billing, resulting in a  savings of $2,500 to $11,000 , depending on the program. By earning graduate credits as an undergrad, your student is also saving time on a master’s, finishing the program in up to half the time it typically takes to earn a master’s. Eight of our master’s programs are available as 4+1 programs, so there are options for every major! Learn more about the programs at  mercyhurst.edu/4plus1  and encourage your student to speak with their advisor about these opportunities!
In an effort to enhance the quality of our facilities and the experiences of our student-athletes, as well as to remain competitive in recruiting, Mercyhurst has partnered with Mercyhurst Prep on a $9.5 million campaign to improve our shared athletic facilities.

EXCITING NEWS  - thanks to the generosity of your fellow Laker, Marc McAndrew '88, all gifts and pledges made by Dec. 27 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000!
Our annual Christmas Eve Mass in Christ the King Chapel will be December 24 at 4:00 p.m. Families and students who will be in the Erie area are always welcomed to join!

Another 40 students recently completed a Carpe Diem retreat (CD 13). It is a profound experience of friendship, self-worth and strength. If you think your daughter or son might enjoy this very popular retreat, encourage them to look for CD 14 sign-ups. CD 14 will be April 3-5.

Mercyhurst students love service. A new student-led group called “Hurst Responders” has formed. They are making connections in neighborhoods near campus to act as first responders in service for individuals and agencies in the local community who are in need of extra help.

Information from the Health Center
Parents of Freshman and First Year Transfer students – please be aware that the Health Center recently emailed students that are still missing required health information.  Ask your student if they received an email on this topic within the last two weeks.  Please review the email with your student as it includes the details of what is still missing. The Holiday Break is the perfect time to reach out to your family doctor to ensure that the missing information is sent to the Health Center as quickly as possible. This will help your student avoid registration delays for next fall semester.

Documentation can be faxed to 814-824-2242. Once information is sent, please have your student reply to the original email to inform us that the paperwork was faxed.

If your student did not receive a recent email, it means their file is complete. If you have any questions, call us at 814-824-2431. Our receptionist will be at the Center through December 20.
New and improved!
