IMPORTANT PROM INFORMATION

It is our top priority to ensure the safety of all students at Prom.  To assist in accomplishing this, we will be conducting breathalyzer tests upon students' arrival to prom and again prior to their departure from prom.

Any student who fails the breathalyzer test upon arrival, will be cited and a parent will be contacted to come pick them up. Additional consequences from the school will follow the student handbook and could include suspension or expulsion.

If a student fails the breathalyzer test prior to departure, they will be cited and held until a parent arrives to pick them up. Additional consequences from the school will follow the student handbook and could include suspension or expulsion.

Attendance

Students must arrive at the dance by 8:00. If students want to leave before 10:30, a parent will be called and asked to give permission. Students may leave after 10:30 without a parent phone call.

Dress Code Reminder - per student handbook

Page 19/20 in Student Handbook

  • Formal Dance Dress Code

Homecoming and Prom are formal events where formal dress and behavior are expected. Students must adhere to the following dress code at all school dances. School officials will be at the entrance and will turn away students that are inappropriately dressed.

  • At formal dances, formal attire is to be worn. Strapless gowns and gowns with spaghetti straps are permitted provided they do not exhibit exaggerated cleavage. Dresses that are BOTH backless and sideless are not acceptable. A dress must cover a females’ sides and must be above the waistline in the back. No transparent clothing is acceptable.
  • Scarf-type tops with only string closures in the back and tops that show bare midriff are not allowed.
  • Skirts or dresses must be at or below the students’ fingertips when their arms are naturally rested at their sides. Excessively tight dresses and skirts are prohibited as they do “ride up” while students are dancing. Slits in dresses must not exceed the fingertip rule.
  • See through clothing of any type is prohibited.
  • Men must keep their shirts on and buttoned. Undergarments are not appropriate outerwear for a dance.
  • No hats

Final decisions about appropriate attire are at the administration’s discretion. Gross Catholic appreciates the cooperation of our school families as we work together to train our students for future success and the appreciation of their human dignity. At all times, Gross Catholic reserves the right to determine what constitutes proper dress code in accordance with good taste and modest, contemporary standards for a Catholic high school.
