Parents of Seniors

  • Students should be checking their college student portals 2-3 times a week to make sure they don't miss important information.
  • May 1st is a common deadline to pay enrollment deposits and accept scholarships.
  • Students should be working on housing - information is generally available in their college student portal. If they are having difficulty, they should contact the college
  • Many colleges require students to sign up for an orientation. These often happen in the summer. Please be aware of possible dates and get signed up!
  • Final transcripts will be sent by Gross to the college in the month of June.
  • Students who have earned college credit from UNO, College of St. Mary or Metro must request the transcript to be sent to the college of their choice. Mrs. McNamara will send instructions on how to do this to their gcgmail account in May.

Important Dates for Seniors!

  • CORRECTION: Friendly reminder - Ortman Scholar photo and Legacy photo is taken BEFORE Baccalaureate Mass at 5:15pm on front steps of the Cathedral.

Campus Ministry

Twice a year we survey our students, faculty/staff, and school families in order to acquire data that gives us a clearer picture about areas of commendation and improvement.

The results of this survey are very important and are reviewed by the administration, faculty, and staff. We also share the results of the survey with our community at large and use it for continuous improvement through our accreditation process.

Please keep the following in mind as you answer the items in this survey:

1. Consider the field trips, retreats, Mission Days, and Homeroom activities that have been created to augment student's structured education.

2. Consider ways that student-voice has influenced school decisions - Latino Music, changes to uniform (sweatshirts, polos, Uggs, etc), academies, Student Council events.

3. Consider the actions and attitudes of adults in this building as a whole - Do you feel students are cared for, respected, known by the majority of adults in the building? Do you believe students have at least 1 adult at school that you would consider a trusted adult?

4. Consider students' education as a whole - Do you feel they are prepared for college? Have students learned in a variety of ways (sometimes through lecture, sometimes through technology, sometimes in groups, sometimes through projects, sometimes through reading, sometimes through hands-on experiences, etc)? Has student understanding and mastery of content been assessed in various ways (traditional tests, essays, projects, technology-based assessments, labs, performances, etc)?

Please complete the survey here: https://eprovesurveys.advanc-ed.org/surveys/#/action/303742/14620

The survey will remain open until May 15th. THANK YOU!

SOPHOMORE PARENTS: ***Turn in permission slips by the end of the week***

Though we are trying to tie-up this school year, we are also planning for next school year. Next year's Junior Retreat will take place on Wed, Aug 19. Junior Retreat is off-site and involves additional parent support. Your student should have brought home a permission slip.

It is important that the paper permission slip be turned in by the end of this week AND the online permission slip are completed before the end of the school year.

Thank you so much for your help with coordinating this information. If you have any questions, please email  msweetmon@gcgmail.org
