Last week, a group of Eden Prairie students joined  The Student Conference , an event to bring student voice to the forefront around the future of education. The conference, which was created for students and led by students, addressed a number of topics including changing demographics, personalized education and how schools can address rapid changes in our economy and society. Students from school districts across the metro were invited to participate. A handful of Eden Prairie students were trained to facilitate conference sessions. Area superintendents and education leaders, including Eden Prairie’s Dr. Josh Swanson, were in attendance. The Student Conference was designed for adults to be responsible for listening and observing student discussions. The adults’ direct participation was minimal. “There is so much to be learned when we listen to our students," said Swanson, “That is part of our culture in Eden Prairie Schools and it was valuable to give our students a larger audience.”
