Thursday, August 3 (TONIGHT!) - MES Parent Safety Meeting
There is so much to know about school, and the most important thing is school safety! Join Principal Sofianos and Officer Kisha Louis to learn all about safety for students, staff, and visitors at MES. This session is intended for ALL parents, new and veteran. This is our second annual meeting with this focus, and you will learn about our safety drills and what you can do as a parent/guardian to help.
When: Tonight at 5pm
Where: Virtual Meeting via Zoom
This Zoom meeting is for MES parents only, so that we can share our safety plans transparently and securely. The Zoom link was sent directly to parents via our Campus Parent Portal text & email system. The recording will be available afterwards via a secure link shared only with our MES staff and parents.

Friday, August 4 - Kindergarten Parent Welcome
Please join us for this special session tailored to kindergarten parents and guardians beginning at 8am. There will be a special visit from the teachers, as well as helpful information and lots of time for questions and answers! This event will be hosted in the MES Auditorium; please check in at the front office upon arrival.

Monday, August 7 - Classroom Parent Leader Sign Ups Open
This year, we will have four classroom volunteer roles for each class room: Classroom Parent, Party Planner, Sustainability Wellness and Garden (SWAG) Coordinator, and Yearbook Coordinator. For more details on what each role entails, please visit here. The signup will open on Monday, August 7th at 12:00pm on Membership Toolkit. Please register or update your family information on Membership Toolkit to sign up for these roles!

Monday, August 7 - Last Day to Buy a Brick to Support the MES Garden | |

The MES Garden Brick Sale is back!
As some of our Dolphin families may remember from last spring, our beloved garden space at MES took a bit of a beating during the recent renovation and now needs a bit of love to bring it back to its full potential. To raise money for this effort, our PTA SWAG team is once again giving people the opportunity to “buy” bricks in our garden pathway. This is a great way to leave a message to future classes and support your school at the same time!
We are selling two sizes of bricks during this sale:
- Standard bricks (4x8) are $250 and can include up to three lines of text
- Large bricks (8x8) are $500 and can include up to five lines of text
Bricks can be purchased on the PTA Square Site. More details can be found on the Garden page of the MES website. For questions about the brick sale, please contact Jackie Townley.

Thursday, August 10 - PTA General Meeting
Mark your calendars for the PTA’s first general meeting on Thursday, August 10 at 8am in the MES Auditorium. All visitors must check in at the front office upon arrival. This meeting will also be livestreamed via the MES Facebook Page for those who cannot attend in person.
We are sure to have lots of exciting agenda items, including introducing the new Executive Board for the 2023-2024 school year, sharing PTA priorities and ideas for the new year, and voting to approve the budget. You can learn more about the MES PTA here.
Join the MES PTA in 2023-2024!
PTA Memberships for 2023-2024 are on sale now via the PTA Square Site. Becoming a voting member of the PTA will cost $10 for teachers and parents and $5 for non-certified paraprofessionals employed at MES. These one-time membership fees help support the work of the PTA throughout the year, so thank you for becoming a paying member!

- MES Arts Showcase (WAVES) Committee Chair

MES International Festival Is Nearly Here!
We are excited about our first festival of the year!! In preparation for the International Fest, we'd like to better understand the countries represented in our MES community. Please fill out this short survey and let us know!

Now is the best time to order your 2023-2024 MES yearbooks, with the book price at its lowest ($40)! As a special Back to School treat, when you purchase personalization for your yearbook (only $10 more!), you can add up to four icons free! Icons are normally $5 each, so that's a $20 value. This special Back to School early bird discount ends on Friday, August 25th. After that, book prices increase to $45.

2023-2024 Dolphin Donors Sponsorships Available Now
Calling all local businesses and community organizations! The MES PTA is committed to continued fundraising efforts throughout the school year, in support of our Morningside students and community. As part of that effort, we are pleased to announce our Dolphin Donors sponsorship packages for the 2023-2024 school year!
Some of the annual events that we look forward to each year (Back to School night, Monster Bash, Boosterthon, Family Science Night, Spring Auction and Field Day) are already in the planning stages and could offer the opportunity for increased visibility for your business as a community sponsor. Booths and signage at these events, prominent signage at the school, Facebook and Instagram posts, fliers, MES website recognition, and the addition of your company's logo on our Boosterthon shirt worn by every student, are just some of the benefits available to your business when you become a Dolphin Donor.

APS Board of Education Monthly Meeting - Monday, August 7
The next monthly APS Board of Education meeting will take place on Monday, August 7th from 2:30-8:00pm. All meetings are held at the Atlanta Public Schools Center for Learning and Leadership Auditorium and are typically livestreamed via the APS Board of Education Facebook Page. Interested parties are welcome to provide comments during the Community Meeting portion (which begins at 6:00pm) by signing up in person from 5:00-5:50pm.
