Dear Chagrin Falls Parents,

This afternoon, Governor DeWine announced the closing of all bars and restaurants.  This continues to be an extremely fluid situation for all of Ohio and for those of us in education.  There were no additional restrictions and / or direction for K-12 education this afternoon. Tomorrow is a critical day in our ability to launch virtual learning in our District.  Please note the below schedule for necessary pick up of materials. We ask that only one parent or student (4-12) attend per family to limit the number in attendance. Additionally, we want to point out that this is an open window for you to pick up materials therefore we anticipate and prefer staggered arrivals during the open window of time.  We also ask that you recognize current guidance on social distancing (6 feet between you and others) as much as possible. Finally, at Gurney Elementary it is permitted to have another adult pick up the Chromebook and materials for another student(s) to help eliminate the need for a parent to secure a sitter or have to bring their child with them. If you have anyone within your family demonstrating any symptoms of illness we encourage you not to come to school.  If you can not make the scheduled pick up time or have anyone that can pick up materials, please contact the school office to set up a time for pick up sometime this week.

Students in grades 9-12:  The building will be open and staff will be in classrooms on Monday, March 16 for students to gather items from 8 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.  Only come to school if you need your Chromebook, charger or have been asked by a classroom teacher.

Students in grades 7-8: Click for the 7th and 8th grade supply/material/equipment list outlining what students will need to continue their coursework.  The building will be open and staff will be in classrooms on Monday, March 16 for students to gather items from 8 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Students in grades Pk-6:   The elementary buildings will be open at specific times on Monday, March 16 for parents to pick up materials, Chromebooks and/or personal items that may have been left behind. Staff will be in classrooms to assist parents with materials and to provide support related to online learning and/or home activities if needed. We ask that you adhere to the following times:

CFIS:
  • 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. - Families with last names A-M
  • 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. - Families with last names N-Z

Gurney:
  • 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. - Families with last names A-M
  • 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. - Families with last names N-Z

All Gurney students will be provided a Chromebook as teachers felt this was critical to provide consistent instructional delivery.

We have centralized all communication and resources on one webpage.  This also includes a link for parents to get necessary technology help and is located at the following link:  http://bit.ly/CFCovid19 .

Our staff worked diligently on Friday and has been busy all weekend long.  We anticipate all teachers will launch virtual lessons on Wednesday of this week.  We need your help encouraging students to get online to not only complete work but identify any technology issues prior to spring break.  We need our students to understand this is the new place that learning will take place. We appreciate your continued support.

Sincerely,

Robert W. Hunt, Ph.D.
