A Great Hearts education at Archway Arete is only possible with the support of our families and friends.

Your gifts to Community Investment and your contribution of your Public School Tax Credit are crucial to the success of our academy. In fact, they make an immediate difference to our operational budget.

Did you know that we have spent $435 per pupil on COVID related expenses? This includes expenses related to both in-person and remote learning: desk shields, increased cleaning from day porters, enhanced software, and updated webcams/microphones, etc.

We received $3.52 per pupil from FEMA and $83.82 per pupil from the CARES Act to pay for COVID related expenses. We maintain $347.60 per pupil in expenses that we do not foresee being reimbursed. This is in addition to the gap in funding we receive from the state in comparison to our neighboring district schools.

The safety of your students and teachers is our #1 priority. We are incredibly grateful for having the capacity to protect our community to the best of our ability. Your support of Community Investment and Tax Credit through donations are crucial. Will you consider giving to one or both today?

You may donate to Community Investment through this link and contribute your Tax Credit through this link.

Thank you sincerely and Happy Holidays!

Archway Arete Parent Survey
Thank you, families, for entrusting your children to us in this most unusual year. On behalf of all of our teachers and staff, we are grateful for your compassion and support. While the whole Archway Arete team is working hard, we know that this has been a difficult season for all of us: moms, dads, and other caregivers included. However, even in the busiest of seasons, it is still important to understand where we are succeeding and where we are falling short. We can be kind and supportive of one-another while still offering constructive feedback where it is necessary. With that in mind, please take 5 minutes to complete this survey--once for each child. The survey will close on Tuesday, December 22nd at noon.

In Person Return To Campus
Archway Arete will return to campus on Monday, January 4th. Have a great holiday break!
Google Classroom in Semester 2
The functionality of Google Classroom will change for our in-person learners in the second semester. (For those joining GHDL, you can disregard this communique. You will still use Google Classroom in a similar fashion, but your URL and teachers will change.) Beginning when we return from break on January 4th, our teachers will no longer post assignments on their Google Classroom; however, they will continue to use the “Stream” as a place for classroom communications. I recommend staying in the habit of checking each Monday to stay current on all the good stuff happening in your child’s homeroom. Also, please note that we will no longer be livestreaming lessons. If a student is home sick or needs to quarantine, teachers will send home the necessary work and/or students can complete their assignments upon their return. An exception might be made to the no-livestream-rule in the event that we need to quarantine all or the majority of a particular section due to an exposure.
International Travel Guidelines
As we begin Winter Break, we understand that families may want to travel out of the country to visit loved ones. Families who decide to travel out of the country via air will have to observe our isolation guidelines upon return. You will be required to stay home for 14 days after you return home from international travel by air, or take a COVID-19 test five days or more after your return. If your test comes back negative, your child may return to campus. See Great Hearts amended COVID policy. Please note, absences due to travel are unexcused per the Great Hearts Attendance Policy.

Student Evaluations
The PowerSchool Parent Portal will open on Wednesday, December 30th to view student evaluations. Teachers have been hard at work writing narrative evaluations for each of their students. Grades K-2 are graded on a numeric (1-4) scale and grades 3-5 are graded on a letter scale (A-F). Powerschool works best when accessed from a laptop or desktop. Remember to use Chrome or Firefox, as well.
Picture Retake Day
Thursday, January 7th is picture retake day, beginning at 8:00 am. Our GHDL (Distance Learning) students may come for retakes beginning at 8:00 am. Please park and walk your student to the south entrance of the gym. Any in person learners wanting a retake will go with their teacher to the gym. Please let your child's teacher know if you would like your child to have their picture taken.

COVID Testing On Campus
Wednesday, January 6th from 2:30 - 4:00 pm, Premier will be at the Prep car line for drive-thru family COVID testing. Please check with your insurance carrier to see if they cover the testing through Premier.
Winter Break Office Hours
The front office will be closed during Winter Break, Monday, December 21st - Friday, January 1st. Phone messages will be checked infrequently over the break.
