Good Evening,

We're gearing up for scheduling season! Please read on so you can have conversations about your child's next move.

Have a great week. Go Patriots!

Sincerely,

A NOTE FROM THE SCHOOL COUNSELING OFFICE
Have you started looking forward to the 19-20 school year yet? It is hard to believe it but in the School Counseling Office that is exactly what we are doing as we start the course selection and registration process for the 2019-20 school year. February 11-18 will be course selection and registration. The process will look a little different this year as learners will have their core academic teachers recommend the next course that is best for them given their interests and post-secondary plans. Teachers will be providing overviews of course offerings and discussing options for learners. Once the core classes are recommended, learners will be given their transcript and course selection sheets with instructions on entering their requests online. Please follow the instructions, print the final selections, and a parent or guardian should sign it. These should be turned into the School Counseling Office by Monday, February 18th. The 2019-2020 GHS Program of Studies is on the GHS web page for you to review with your child as you approve the courses they will be taking. It is important to remember that these are course requests and not a schedule. All elective courses are subject to interest as to whether or not they are run. If you have any questions please email ghsguidance@sau73.org.

Back by popular demand! The Hypnotist show last year was such a success that the Business Management class has decided to bring it back. This event is sponsored by the Gilford PTA and is a great night of family fun!! The show is absolutely hysterical! Tickets will be sold at the door. $5 for students and $7 for adults.
Parents of Performing Students (POPS)
The group known as POPS (Parents of Performing Students) is in the process of restructuring. As a parent/guardian of a student involved in band, choir or theater you are automatically a member of POPS. We would like to open the group up to the elementary and middle schools as things have been traditionally high school based. We believe growing this group will be more effective in assisting and improving the overall performing arts programs. We would like to get more active members of this group in addition to new leadership to help support the groups new goals. Much of the fundraising in the past has been for senior scholarships. Recognizing that there are other needs, we would like to broaden this area to include new/repair instruments, equipment & supplies, uniforms, festivals, trips, camps, faculty appreciation and so much more. Please join us at our next meeting this  Tuesday, February 5 th  at  6 pm  in the GHS choir room (enter through side performing arts doors). This meeting is very important as we have new positions to fill. Attached is a membership form. Please fill it out and bring it to the meeting. If you can’t attend please return this form to a performing arts teacher as we will need help at future activities. Working together we can make a difference in our schools.
Thank you.
