HELLO ECE!


You scream, we scream, we all scream for ice cream! Thank you to all ECE families who joined us for the Annual Ice Cream Social/Parent Engagement and Federal Programs Event. Your presence and feedback were much appreciated. If you were not able to attend you can review the attached PowerPoint with the information provided. We ask that you use the link to complete the survey to provide your feedback.

Dress Code


Detroit Edison Public School Academy students must conduct themselves with a sense of personal pride. Therefore, they are expected to dress appropriately in their school uniforms. The dress code is in effect throughout the entire school day. Students should only carry clear or mesh backpacks. All other items are required to be stored in the locker. Please ensure your child is in full school uniform before entering the building. 


Prohibited Items

  • Hats, head-scarves, bandanas
  • Large purses (only cross body) JA/ECE
  • Tight-fitted/short skirts, dresses, shorts, skorts.
  • Sunglasses wore in school
  • Bare midriffs or cropped tops
  • Polo Shirts
  • Shirts fronts & tails hanging out
  • Footie socks/ socks with designs on them
  • Hooded sweatshirts during school hours 
  • No boots of any kind during school hours 
  • Gym shoes (except during gym class)
  • Non-prescription glasses
  • Crocs, Mules, strapless shoes, or high heels

Students who violate the dress code will serve a suspension after 3 violations.

Arrival Procedure


Students arrive at 8:10 AM

Instruction begins at 8:20 AM Students are marked tardy 8:25 AM

NO LOCKERS AFTER 8:25 AM


Students who arrive after 8:45 AM must be signed in by a parent in the main office. If your student is going to be late or absent, please call the main office at 313-877-9380.

STUDENT PARKING PASSES

Students must have a valid DEPSA parking pass as a student driver on campus. We must have on file a copy of the students driver's license, current insurance and parent permission slip. The parking pass is $45.00 for the year. Please see Mrs. Downer for the permission slip.

NWEA Testing

NWEA  Make Up testing will continue Monday and Tuesday during the week of September 19th for 9th and 10th grade students.

DEPSA Early College of Excellence is committed to utilizing strategies to keep our scholars safe. We are excited to serve our school community and will work diligently with the Wayne County Health Department to enforce safety precautions.

Please ensure to do your part by making sure your student wears a mask daily.

100% College Acceptance

FAFSA completion will increase by 20%

Increase college matriculating by 10% 


IB/AP - increase the number of students passing by 10% 


M-STEP proficiency will increase in both Science and Social Studies by 20% for 11th graders 


% of SAT test takers scoring above College Ready Benchmark: 26%


60% of 9th and 10th graders will meet their RIT growth goal in Math and Reading


Average Daily Attendance will be at 95% 


INSTRUCTIONAL PRIORITIES

Priority #1: Integrate reading, writing and discussion in all content areas to provide cohesive instruction and opportunities for productive struggle.

Priority #2: Provide effective feedback to students that affirms what they have done well and guides them toward academic improvement and achievement of learning goals.

Priority #3: Study and leverage student-level data on a regular and consistent basis to identify learning opportunities and create plans to address them.

Priority #4: Use rubrics as tools to provide a shared language with clear guidelines and expectations to provide a measure, adjust and evaluate learning.

Bell Schedule

Food Delivery


Please Do Not send food to your student via Door Dash, Grub Hub, Uber Eats, or other food delivery services. This creates a security issue and is a disruption to the educational environment. Food deliveries, whether ordered by parents or students, will be turned away.



In order for your student to receive a Google Chromebook for school use a signed Equipment Use Agreement must be on file. This agreement is between the school, the parent/guardian, and the student listed. Please be on the lookout for the form in your email.

Emergency Cards:

Parents, please make sure you have completed an Emergency Contact Form for your student. The card communicates important health details, emergency contact, and pick-up permission. Students will not be released to individuals who are not listed on the emergency card.

In order to accommodate all classes needed for graduation requirements some student schedules end at 3:20 PM (P6) and some end at 4:00 PM (P7).

Midnight Golf Program

Midnight Golf is a comprehensive support system and scholarship program for high school seniors.  The application Deadline is September 26, 2022.

Mandatory Open House is Monday, September 26, 2022, at 6:00 PM.
