DEPSA - ECE WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

Monday, November 7, 2022 | Volume XI.          Main Office Contact 313-877-9380

We are pleased to inform you that DETROIT EDISON PSA will be hosting a field experience to the Universal Soul Circus. Permission slips will go home on Monday, November 7th, and should be returned by Thursday, November 10th.

ECE has implemented schoolwide Exact Path Intervention. This is considered a Tier I approach to support students. Exact Path is designed to provide instructional reinforcement, supporting accelerated students who are ahead of grade level but, at the same time, to offer remediation for those who may have struggled to grasp content the first time or who just need a refresher. Each lesson provides a short tutorial, and is self-guided, allowing students to progress at their own pace..

Y ANET Testing

ANet testing provides formative interim assessments that give educators timely, actionable, and student-specific data. Students will begin testing in ELA and Math the week of November 7th. Please make sure your scholar is present for testing.

READER'S BOX

Students are assigned reading each week from their classroom teacher. Students complete a nightly “response” or activity based on the assigned reading for the week. They submit this work EVERY FRIDAY at the beginning of class. This accounts for 15% of their ELA grade. Parents, please provide your support by checking their completed responses every night and asking your student what class period they represent in this data.

Students who read 30 minutes each night will have been exposed to 12 million more words by senior year. Research has shown that more than half the variance in students’ reading comprehension scores can be explained by the depth and breadth of their vocabulary knowledge. Students with higher reading comprehension scores typically perform better in science and math.

Welcome to DeansList!!

DeansList is a new software tool that we will use to analyze our attendance and behavior data, and most importantly to improve communication with our parents.

To start, we have scheduled continuous alerts in DeansList that will send messages to your cell phone or email address regarding the following:

Uniform violations - send daily at 4:00 p.m.

3+ Positive Behaviors - send on Thursdays at 4:00 p.m.

3+ Areas of Opportunities - send on Fridays at 4:00 p.m.

In addition, students will earn points for positive behaviors and minus points in the areas of opportunity and uniform violations. Total points earned will determine if students are invited to the Quarterly PBIS celebrations.

Stay tuned….

Student Reports will be rolled out next month. This report will provide details of your student’s attendance and behavior data in one report.
