Focusing on Kindness

Last Saturday’s TReK (Truth, Respect, and Kindness Experience) focused on kindness. The goal was for our community to spread kindness within and beyond Forman’s campus. After discussing kindness within the dorms, students prepared special kindness kits for animal shelters, children’s hospitals, and more. “Take What You Need” Kindness Boards were brought to life in multiple locations around campus. Students also completed kind acts for our maintenance, housekeeping, and Dining Hall staff.

MLK Day

The Forman community honored the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. this week. During Monday’s Assembly, students, faculty, and staff watched a video that played a portion of Dr. King’s “Birth of a New Nation” speech given at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL, on April 7th, 1957. After the video, they spoke about King’s vision of a beloved community and the definitions of nonviolence, reconciliation, and forgiveness. Students also participated in an advisory and community lunch centered around Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Citizen of the Week

Rudy Kelly ’25 has been named Citizen of the Week for showing off his kindness skills during TReK and helping others. Thank you, Rudy!

Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges Faculty Spotlight

Throughout this academic year, we are celebrating faculty members who exemplify our year-long theme: Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges. History Teacher Scott Brady ’84 was recognized for his contributions in December. Brady, a longtime community member of Forman, is also the Assistant Coach of the Girls’ Varsity Volleyball team, an Advisor, and a New Teacher Mentor.

“I am honored and humbled,” he says. “This is a community that I genuinely love being a part of, so to be recognized in this way is really nice.”
