Parental Choice School Fair draws 500 participants to Discovery Center
More than 500 parents, students, and school representatives attended the inaugural Parental Choice School Fair, Jan. 25, at the Space Foundation in Colorado Springs. The event was sponsored by Parents Challenge and National School Choice Week.

“The event offered parents, students, and local leaders the opportunity to learn about outstanding public, charter, private, online, and home school programs in the Pikes Peak Region,” explained Deborah Hendrix, executive director of Parents Challenge. “We also had a number of outstanding high school bands and dance teams who entertained participants while demonstrating the skills they have learned at school.”

Each participant received a bright yellow scarf from National School Choice Week, an organization founded in 2011, which has since grown into the world’s largest movement seeking to ensure that all parents have the right to choose the best education for their children.
Empowerment Sessions Equip Parents to Help Students Succeed in School & Life

Too many kids in the Colorado Springs region are enrolled in struggling schools, limiting their access to a quality education that will allow them to achieve their dreams. We believe ZIP Codes should not determine the quality of a kids’ education

Our Parental Empowerment sessions feature top speakers who equip parents to take responsibility for the educational outcomes of their children. Sessions also focus on improving parenting skills, and fostering values in their children, including honesty, integrity, character, and leadership.
Growing Voices for Choice
Students and families in the Parents Challenge program are encouraged to share how school choice has opened the door to a brighter future by sharing their stories with Voices for Choice, sponsored by the American Federation for Children.

Families that have used school choice to access additional educational opportunities, or students whose lives have been transformed by attending a school that better meets their needs are especially encouraged to share their stories.

Better yet, anyone who uses the link to submit his or her story will earn $50 (only if the story is published on the Voices for Choice website), and Parents Challenge will receive $25. The goal is to help share stories to help make educational opportunity a reality for all families in America.
Give the Gift of Choice
Parents Challenge has a waiting list of more than 200 families seeking to provide the benefits of school choice to their children. Please consider making a donation to give the gift of choice to families seeking a brighter future for their kids.
