Winter 2018-19
Working at Parenting Now! gives me the opportunity to “walk my walk” through directing our work for children and families. The programs we offer, from the infant weigh-ins at Baby Connection, to the nightly parenting groups, feed my soul in a very deep way.

I can see the impact we have on families, from the exhausted-but-still-smiling moms who show off their tiny infants, to the laughter I hear from the groups, and the tears I see when things get tough.

Parenting Now! has had a profound impact on my own life and family as well. I know that I am a better parent and grandparent because of my experiences at Parenting Now!. When I talk to our alumni, I know I’m not alone.

This valuable and relevant work supports parents in creating the kind of families who truly understand and empathize with their children. This kind of parenting is what creates a tight, functional, and loving family who raises thriving children. These children then go on to be wonderful parents themselves.

Not too many organizations can claim that their work builds community like that, but I believe we can.

I invite you to come and see our work for yourself. Give me a call, and I’d be more than happy to give you a tour and share with you the wonderful work we do. I think you’d be surprised, delighted, and inspired.
Warm wishes from my family to yours,
Lynne Swartz
Executive Director

Oregon Community Credit Union  came to Parenting Now! during  United Way of Lane County 's Day of Caring to help paint our children's room and clean our playground for our kiddos!
So wonderful to see so many families out for Grandparents' Day. The photo booth was a huge hit!
Grateful for the Car Seat Clinic team who helps so many families make sure their children are riding safely.
After countless hours researching the best car seat for your newborn or high-back booster seat for your toddler, you’ve finally decided on the perfect one. Unboxing it, it is perfectly spotless (that won’t last long) and has that fresh, new car seat smell (again, also won’t last long).

It’s perfect. But what do you do with all those straps? And how does it recline? Is it supposed to be facing the back of the car or the front?

You are not alone in your concerns and questions — but we are here to help!
Parenting Now! is excited to announce a new Car Seat Safety Program, a project made possible through a partnership with PeaceHealth and Safe Kids West Oregon. By appointment or at one of our car seat clinics, certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will show you how to properly install your car seat and position your child to ensure the safest ride possible.  READ MORE

PN! Board Spotlight:
Linda King

I initially joined the Board in 1993. I had been asked to provide some human resources advice—I was head of HR at the University of Oregon—and was quickly impressed by PN!’s mission and work with families. When asked to join the Board, I happily accepted and I served until 2005. During that tenure, I was President-Elect, President and Past-President of the Board. I was asked to rejoin the Board in 2010 and have served as President and Past-President since then. I joined—both times—because I believe so strongly in the importance of parenting education and support as a way of preventing the lasting lifetime damage caused by child abuse and neglect. READ MORE
The Development Team had a wonderful time hosting Parenting Now!’s 40 th Anniversary “Tastings Open House” this past September. It was a lovely event with our closest supporters and past staff joining together to honor our 40-year legacy in Eugene. We enjoyed beautiful live music and delicious wine from Territorial Vineyards paired with gourmet appetizers. The evening was sprinkled with love, nostalgia, and excitement for the future and the next 40 years of Parenting Now!
Up next, planning is underway for the upcoming year! Our 3 rd annual Preschool Fair will be on Saturday, February 9, 2019, and we already have an exciting lineup of local preschools planning to attend and connect with families. Our annual Auction and Gala will be on Friday, March 1, 2019, which will dazzle with Hollywood-themed festivities and red carpet glitz and glamour!
