Dear San Miguel Families,

Fall is upon us, and brings with it many exciting opportunities for our students and families. As a learning community, our goal is to provide multiple opportunities for parents and families to join in the learning. As such, San Miguel will be hosting several workshops for parents throughout the year. This month (October) we’re offering Cyber Awareness presentations on how to protect your students in this fast-paced world of technology. Additionally, our kindergarten teachers will host a parent night to support our kindergarten families with navigating the first year of school. Information on these events, and so much more, can be found on our marquee, school website, and weekly newsletters. Please spread the word and be sure to check the San Miguel website weekly for updates.

This week our students begin their student council campaigns. We are thrilled to have so many students interested in serving in leadership roles on campus. While all of our students are learning leadership principles through the 7 Habits, our older stallions display their leadership by participating in Safety Patrol, Leadership Club, Playground Partners and Classroom Buddies. In addition to our leadership opportunities, we are proud to offer several after school interventions and clubs taught by our very own San Miguel teachers. These are just some of the ways that we are building 21st century leaders and collaborators who are appreciative of the arts and guided by emotional intelligence.

Lastly, the San Miguel PTA membership drive begins September 30th and runs through October 10th. Our PTA hosts several family events throughout the year. In September, our PTA hosted a very successful “Lunch on the Lawn” and in October will host “Walk 2 School” Day, a Family Movie Night, and a Scholastic Book Fair. Your support of the PTA makes these events possible, so please consider joining PTA today.

To learn more about our services and programs, we invite you to join us for our monthly “Coffee with the Principal” and various site stakeholder meetings. Thank you for your continued support of our teachers and students.

Your partner in learning,
Mrs. Richmond
