Principal Message
Dear Families,

Congratulations on completing your first full week of distance learning. It was wonderful to see your students connecting with teachers and completing assignments on Google Classroom. We realize that this is a new way of learning for many of our students and families, so we want to encourage you to hang in there. During this time, we must be patient with each other and ourselves, understanding that we are all doing our best. It will get easier! Know that you have all of our support as we continue to learn together.

This week is “Teacher Appreciation Week”! Though we aren’t able to be together in person, I’m sure you will join me in thanking our amazing teachers for all of their hard work and dedication. Our teachers continue to train and plan engaging instructional options for our students and I couldn’t be more grateful for their support. This would be a great time for your students to send a thank you message or picture to their teachers via Google Classroom or your teacher’s communication apps (Remind, Class Dojo, Email). I know our teachers would appreciate your words of encouragement.

Also this week, our Assistant Superintendent of Education Services will be hosting a virtual Town Hall Meeting to discuss our district’s Distance Learning Plan, and hopefully answer some of the many questions you may have. This meeting will take place Wednesday, May 6th from 4:30-5:30pm. Please be on the lookout for details about this event from our district office. You may also find more information on our district website at

Sixth grade families, if you have not already signed up for middle school electives, please do so as soon as possible using this 7th Grade Electives Link . As all of our students will be promoted to the next grade level, we want to make sure our sixth graders are signed up for the appropriate courses next year.  If you have any questions, or have more than one student enrolling in 7th grade, please contact Lemon Grove Academy Middle School's Academic Counselor, Alexa Garcia, at

As always, we are here to support you and your student(s), so please do not hesitate to contact me, our school social worker or your classroom teacher with any questions you may have. Please continue to stay safe and healthy and remember, WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER

Yours in learning,
Mrs. Richmond

Things to Know.....
Teacher Appreciation Week During Quarantine

  • A Handwritten Thank You Note– They can’t be with the kids to see the smiles on their faces or hear their “thank you’s” during the day, so a message from you would make their day!

  • Send Them Lunch or Dinner– Grab them an e-gift card for GrubHub, Door Dash or any of the other services in the area. If you find businesses near the school, teachers can order in when school re-open.

  • A Video Saying Thank You– Create a video saying “thank you” in your own special way and share it via email or Google Classroom.

  • Digital Gift Cards– Here is a list of popular places that have easy e-gift cards: Local Businesses– Let's make an effort to support local businesses.  Or maybe somewhere they can get a haircut, shave or mani/pedi. Starbucks– drive thru’s are still open and are always a great treat. Target Your teacher can use it now or later.

  • Write a poem or song for your teacher telling them all of the things you have learned this year!

If everyone does their part, the teachers can feel just as special this year as every other year!
