OCTOBER 2025

A WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR GENERAL

Fall is upon us, and our desire to continue improving our communications and collaboration with you is one of our priorities this year. Although a complete survey will be sent to you at some point, we will make a habit of “taking your pulse” occasionally to continuously readjust our approach on a variety of topics.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could quickly provide us with feedback through the survey.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The next Annual General Meeting of the School Board of Directors will take place on November 10, at 6:30 p.m., virtually. This meeting will allow interested parents to review the school's financial statements, the main projects of the past year, and the school's orientations, as well as to share their observations if they wish.

An invitation will follow shortly!

Annie Lamarre

Director General

«LEARNING TOGETHER» THE PROJECT

Alloprof, in collaboration with ITA (Institut des troubles d'apprentissage), has designed a series of activities to help parents support their children in grades 4 through 6 in reading, vocabulary, spelling, etc.

The project offers five bilingual sequences (French and English), each created by remedial teachers and speech therapists working with the ITA. — We are proud to announce that a remedial teacher from our school contributed to the fluency component! Check out the project!

NEW MOBILE APPLICATION - COBA PORTAL

Good news! The COBA Campus mobile app is now available on Android and iOS. It allows you to:

  • View your child's schedule and classes
  • Report an absence
  • Receive notifications from the school

Please note: the app does not replace the web portal. Certain features, such as viewing report cards, are not yet available via the app. New features will be available soon, such as access to the portal's messaging system.

SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

To ensure a smooth return home, please remind your child that the school bus leaves school at 2:53 p.m. every day. It is therefore important that they are already seated on the bus before this time to avoid any delays. The driver has a schedule to follow and, unfortunately, cannot wait for students who arrive after the scheduled departure time.

If your child uses your car to get to school, please remind them that parking on the STANDARD PRO company grounds is strictly prohibited. This parking lot is reserved exclusively for Vanguard tag holders; otherwise, the vehicle will be subject to towing at the owner's expense. Checks are carried out regularly to verify sticker compliance.

SCHOOL PHOTOS - ORDER

Please note that the deadline for ordering your child's photos online for delivery to the school is Tuesday, October 7. After this date, your order will be shipped to your home or to the delivery address you have provided, but at an additional cost.

COMITÉ DE PARENTS VANGUARD

The Vanguard School Parent Committee is seeking your input through a brief survey to better focus its activities and priorities. This will enable it to better meet the needs of our educational community.

The committee thanks you in advance for your participation!

RESEARCH CLINIC - MCGILL UNIVERSITY

Dr. Lily Hechtman of the Montreal Children's Hospital is leading a study to evaluate the effectiveness of cognitive behavioural therapy in adolescents with ADHD. Their team is recruiting participants for a treatment program that will begin in mid-October.

This study is exclusively for participants who are fluent in English.
