The U.S. Supreme Court’s June 2025 decision in Mahmoud v. Taylor affirmed parents’ constitutional right to excuse their children from public school instruction that conflicts with their religious beliefs. In addition to any standard classes, curriculum, printed or digital materials or activities during the course of the school day (including clubs held during the school day or after hours), assemblies and any school-associated activity or materials.
School officials who tell you otherwise are wrong and inviolation of the law. As parents, you need to put your schools on notice in writing and hold them accountable. We can help!

STEP 2:
Additionally, we recommend you include this Teacher Notification Template. This template helps teachers provide parents with advance notice when class instruction may involve sensitive or controversial topics that could conflict with a family’s sincerely held religious beliefs. In Mahmoud v. Taylor (2025), the U.S. Supreme Court reaffirmed that public schools must respect parents’ constitutional right to direct the religious upbringing of their children. While not every topic will implicate this right, timely and transparent communications with families is key when issues arise that may concern families’ religious beliefs. This notice template
supports that goal and helps schools comply with constitutional requirements:

STEP 3:
Lastly, we recommend including this Concerns about Trevor Space Forum letter. Districts often promote this as a "Crisis Support Resource", but the way it actually functions is dangerous:
