Geoff Diehl announced the launch of “Parents for Diehl” initiative today in recognition of the anger and frustration Massachusetts mothers and fathers are feeling about the lack of control over state and local decisions that affect their children.
"Whether it’s school committees refusing to acknowledge the presence of Critical Race Theory instruction in its various forms in our public schools, or it’s the Governor’s policy reversal to mask young children right before the start of the school year despite serious questions about the need or efficacy, or it’s federal vaccine mandates that parents fear will ultimately be instituted on their kids, it’s a scary time to be raising a child in Massachusetts,” said Diehl.
Diehl and his wife, KathyJo Boss, own a performing arts studio in Hanson, MA. During the pandemic, they utilized the large dance rooms and created a state-certified remote “learning pod” for students whose parents had to go back to work and couldn’t watch them for the three days each week that they were not allowed to be in the classroom. “Geoff and I saw, firsthand, how unprepared state government and school districts were in delivering education under these circumstances,” Diehl’s wife, KathyJo, explained. “While many private schools immediately switched to online learning, public school basically crumbled in the final three school months of 2020. The following year, parents told us over and over that they wanted their kids back in school immediately. They couldn’t interact with their peers most of the week and, when they did, it was with masks. Plus, being glued to a computer six or seven hours each day was not delivering the instruction they needed. During that time, the data also became clear that children were at virtually no risk from the virus. It was basically a lost educational year for our kids.”
“Parents for Diehl” will be a group focused on supporting the candidate’s pledge to safeguard parental rights when it comes to the decisions which impact their children. From family control over healthcare choices to increased transparency over educational methods and materials, Governor Diehl will re-empower every household that is bringing up the next generation of Massachusetts leaders.
