   American Heart Association and  LifePod Announce New Study

The American Heart Association (AHA) and LifePod recently announced a new study aiming to put an end to medication non-adherence while providing augmented care and emotional support for heart failure patients, a potential game-changer for 5.7 million patients suffering from the condition. The study comes on the heels of major traction for LifePod's service with Commonwealth Care Alliance members, increasing the number and frequency of virtual interactions between care partners and members to augment the CCA's in-person care model; and an expanding partnership with luxury assisted-living provider Wingate healthcare, which is providing LifePod's proactive-voice caregiving service to more residents in multiple locations across the Northeast.

JT Smith Joins myFamilyChannel as Interim COO

JT Smith has joined myFamilyChannel as interim COO.  JT has recently retired as COO Philips North America, and will be helping the mFC team to improve operations, accelerate growth and align with strategic partners. He shared his excitement about joining the team saying, " Lots of people have tried to connect seniors with technology without success. But Todd and the mFC team have broken the technology barrier so that older adults can enjoy some of the benefits of social media in an easy and non-intimidating way." Aging2.0 Paris Workshop with Mary Furlong

Save the date! Mary Furlong will be speaking at the Aging2.0 Paris Chapter's workshop event titled, "How Americans are Investing in the Silver Economy" on Monday, October 7th. She will discuss the major investment trends in the American longevity economy. This meeting will take place at Silver Innov', the only startup incubator exclusively dedicated to the silver economy in France. Registration details are available here
   
   Family Caregiving News From AARP

On Tuesday, September 10th, AARP hosted The Price of Caring 2019 Executive Summit in Washington, DC and announced important survey results about the in-store shopping struggles of family caregivers. Findings suggest that 31% of America's approximately 40 million unpaid family caregivers struggle when shopping in a store. This was just one topic of the many covered during the Summit which highlighted the needs of caregivers as constituents, employees, community members and consumers. AARP also released their Family Caregiving Consumer Insights Guide. You can also view the full recording of the Summit here.

Hospice Training with Embodied Labs  

A recent Hospice News article  outlines the partnership between Embodied Labs and the Hospice of Southern Maine and how they collaborated to create an educational end-of-life virtual reality module. The three-part program they created is known as the "Clay Lab" because participants take on the role of Clay, a 66-year-old veteran with incurable lung cancer.
