Gospel Reflection

The Commandments of Love - Matthew 22:34-40

Today's reading goes to the very heart of all Scripture. Jesus tells us what our central duty, responsibility, and even privilege in life is: 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment.' Jesus doesn't mention the soul, the heart and mind as if they were separate categories of love, it is one love. But by spelling out heart, mind and soul, Jesus stresses that we are to love God with every part of our being. The depth of our love for God should sit in each of these areas.

A Follow Up

After the October 11 Mass, Dr. Celina Moore, MD (daughter of parishioners Silvia and Bob Moore) spoke in Ignatian Hall. Dr. Moore and her husband Stephen shared their firsthand experiences of current health and living conditions in Ghana, and highlighted the significant work with Akoma Ntoso Fou. If you wish to donate, please use the link below:

Akoma Ntoso Foundation is a nongovernmental, not-for-profit partnership between American and Ghanaian volunteer groups. Their mission is to empower residents in rural Ghana by enhancing medical well-being, promoting healthy lifestyles, and advancing educational opportunities in disadvantaged communities. The name "Akoma Ntoso" originates from a Ghanaian Adinkra symbol meaning "linked hearts," symbolizing understanding, agreement, and harmony within.

Remember to List Your Love One's Who Have Passed Away

On Sunday, November 1, we will celebrate our Mass for the Beloved Dead. This special liturgy will include guest musicians and prayer for deceased parishioners, family members, and friends. We will remember those who have died in two ways:

  • The names of those who died between November 1, 2025 and October 26, 2026 will be displayed on a memorial board in the Narthex throughout November.
  • The names of those who died before November 1, 2025 will be included in our Book of Remembrance, also kept in the Narthex throughout November.

Please submit your loved one’s name(s) and date(s) of death by Monday, October 26 in one of the following ways:

  1. Complete the form in this Ezine or via the QR code in the bulletin.
  2. Mail the information to the parish office. (740 N. Calvert Street, Baltimore MD, 20202).
  3. Email names to Erin Dillenbeck at secretary@st-ignatius.net.

May God welcome the faithful departed into His dwelling place and grant comfort to all who mourn.

St. Ignatius will hold a one-hour service event on Sunday, November 8, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on the 3rd floor.

Our PREP has been spearheading a Faith in Action project to benefit the Missionaries of Charity in Haiti. The Missionaries use cloth diapers exclusively at their orphanage, and St. Ignatius PREP has been gathering the materials needed to make them. They hope to sew the diapers and ship them in November, but additional volunteers may be needed to complete the project. If you sew or, better yet, own a portable sewing machine, we could use your help!

If your interested in participating, please click the button below or use the QR Code.

This Respect Life project responds to the needs of our missionaries and sends a little love to these infant disciples of Jesus.
