News from St. Patricia Parish
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.
-John 14:27
Dear Parishioners,

What is the key to happiness? Maura Sullivan Hill writes in “Loyola, The Magazine of Loyola University of Chicago” about the “The Art of Happiness.”

“Health and happiness go hand-in-hand – but achieving true joy requires a commitment to training the mind and spirit.”

Hill quotes Fred Bryant, a long-time psychology professor at Loyola, “How do people transform a positive moment into something wonderful that they feel? Happiness is not in the events, it is in us. The most wonderful thing has no effect on us until we transform it in our own minds and the way we react to it.”

Fred Bryant recommends 5 tips for savoring:

  • Notice what is around you. Take a mental photograph so that you can revisit the experience.
  • Share experiences with others. They can often point out things you have overlooked.
Parish Community Happenings
Welcome Weekend - May 21-22
Twice a year, in the spring and in the fall, we celebrate WELCOME WEEKEND at St. Patricia Parish. During this weekend we invite new parishioners to register at St. Patricia and ask our current parishioners to update their contact information, including email addresses, phone numbers, and mailing addresses.

We also highlight the parish ministries offered here at St. Patricia. We have updated our Spring 2022 Parish Ministry Directory with ministry descriptions and contact updates to our existing ministries, and we also have added four (4) new ministries to consider since the Fall 2021 Ministry Directory was published. We are a growing faith community here at St. Patricia Church!

The Welcoming Committee will be hosting hospitality after all Masses in the Gathering Space, including juices, water, and cookies. If you have a few moments after Mass, please stay, meet, and greet new people. The Welcoming Committee will be there to answer any of your questions.

Our 2022 May Crowning was a beautiful ceremony! St. Patricia 8th grade students led us in praying the rosary and the 2nd graders were gifted their blessed scapulars during the prayer service. Thank you to Mrs. Christine Ramos, Mrs. Lea Rodriguez, and the Religious Education team for coordinating the lovely service!
