News from St. Patricia Parish
“And people will come from the east and the west and from the north and the south and will recline at table in the kingdom of God." -Luke 13:29
Dear Parishioners,

We can learn a great deal about leadership from Joshua that would be helpful for us today. He made great strides as successor to Moses. Initially lacking in confidence, but with God's assurances, he grew to be a strong leader. He faced similar challenges that we ourselves face today with the tribal differences of the Israelites.

The 12 twelve tribes were not unlike schools and neighborhoods in our country and even closer to home in the Chicagoland area where people, even generally good people, divide themselves up into cliques, voting blocks by ethnicity, social class, religion, and other artificial barriers sometimes determined only by street address.

These divisions frequently lead to turf wars, conflict, a lack of respect in public discourse, violence, and sometimes even to a deadly apathy when we cannot take it anymore.

We all know better. This is the opposite of how God wants us to love one another...
