This week brings to light God's healing grace and the ongoing possibilities of renewal. The first reading celebrates ancient Israel's first Passover in the Promise Land. No longer slaves, the Israelites enter their new home and feast gratefully on the produce on the land. The psalm praises God for hearing the cries of the poor and distressed. The theme of repentance and redemption is further illustrated in the parable of the lost son. Most of us can relate to this story of temptation and the consequences of bad choices. We can also take comfort in the everlasting possibility of repentance and the goodness of our God. (Liturgy of the Word, pg. 144)

Synod Listening Sessions at St. Peter
St. Peter is pleased to offer two listening sessions in preparation for the world wide Synod called by Pope Francis. These sessions are open to everyone — Catholic or not, parishioner or not, believer or not. What do you want the leadership of the Catholic Church to hear from you? This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, possibly the most extensive effort of its kind in history.

A couple of trained synod facilitators are offering two Synod listening sessions here at St. Peter’s in the parish center.

Plan to attend, and spread the word far and wide. Everyone is welcome!

Thanks to trained facilitators from St. Basil, our fellow parish in the Collaborative, for offering these sessions according to diocesan guidelines and training.
