Jesus, the True Vine, is the perfect image for the intimate connection that exists between God and those who believe. God's life flows through us and enables us to produce good fruit, continuing the mission Jesus began. To keep the vine strong and healthy, we must allow ourselves to be pruned of all that separates us from the source of life that flows through the vine. (Liturgy of the Word, pg. 178)
