Rev. Amy Heinrich’s Retirement on Sunday, June 7

Rev. Amy’s Retirement

Join us on Sunday, June 7 as we celebrate the faithful ministry and retirement of Rev. Amy M. Heinrich after nearly 22 years as Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Amy will preach during worship in the sanctuary, and a reception in her honor will follow in Fellowship Hall.

Congregational Meeting

A brief Congregational Meeting will be held at the beginning of the service on June 7 to complete formal action related to Rev. Amy’s retirement and transition from pastoral service at First Pres, as required by the PC(USA) and the Presbytery of Chicago.

Love Gift for Rev. Amy

As an expression of our gratitude and love, a financial “love gift” is being collected in Amy’s honor. Contributions may be made through the offering plate (designated “Rev. Amy’s Love Gift”), by mailed check, or online. We also invite you to share a personal note or card of appreciation.

Cuba Update: Solar Panels have arrived

We are delighted to share exciting news from our sister church in San Nicolás de Bari, Cuba. Pastor Maricela reports that installation of the church’s new solar panels is now underway.

For many months, the community has struggled with severe electrical shortages, receiving only a few hours of electricity each day—and most recently, just one hour daily.

The new solar panels will provide a reliable source of power, allowing the church to once again operate its refrigerator, washing machine, and sewing machines.

These resources are essential to the congregation’s outreach ministry. With dependable electricity, church members will be able to resume preparing meals for elderly and homebound neighbors and regularly washing and repairing clothing for those in need.

Thank you to everyone whose prayers and support helped make this project possible. Please continue to keep Pastor Maricela, the congregation of San Nicolás, and the installation team in your prayers as this important work continues.

Share Your God-Sized Dreams for First Pres!

Over the past several months, members of our congregation have gathered to prayerfully imagine God’s vision for the future of First Presbyterian Church of Libertyville.

If you were unable to attend one of the Vision Plan Gatherings, we still want to hear from you!

Please take a few moments to complete the attached Vision Plan Input Form and share your “God-Sized Dreams” for our church community.

Click here to download the form. Please return the form to the church office by Sunday, May 31.

Volunteers needed at Libertyville Days

The Libertyville Civic Center Foundation has asked First Pres to help at Libertyville Days by selling tickets at the Beer Tent during the festival.

Our Elders and Deacons are stepping up to help, but we still need two volunteers on Saturday, June 20.

For every hour volunteered, the Foundation will donate $20 to First Pres. Our goal is to raise $800–$1,200 to support our Mission Fund.

Sat 6/20 • 11:45 AM – 4:00 PM (1 volunteers needed)

Sat 6/20 • 8:00 PM – 11:30 PM (1 volunteer needed)

Volunteers will serve alongside another member from First Pres or St. Lawrence Episcopal Church. The work is seated and shaded, and we’ll provide a church T-shirt so you can easily be identified as part of our congregation.

If you’re available, please sign up for a shift using this link:

Phishing Texts & Email Scams

Scams like spoofed emails and texts are becoming more common and can be very convincing—even appearing to come from someone you know.

In some cases, scammers may pose as pastors, staff, or fellow members and ask for gift cards, money, personal information, or a quick response to a link.

A few simple reminders:

  • Be cautious of unexpected or urgent messages, even if they look legitimate
  • Don’t click links or respond right away—pause and verify first
  • When in doubt, contact the person directly using a phone number you trust

Our pastors and staff will never ask for gift cards, money, or sensitive information by email or text. If something seems off, please call the church office at 847-362-2174 before taking any action.
