From the Curate: Sunday Worship is in Elliott Park

Dear Friends in Christ,

We’re taking a worship field trip! This Sunday, June 29, we will share in a joint, 5-parish lakefront worship service with our neighbor Episcopal congregations in Evanston held at 10:00 a.m. at Evanston’s Elliott Park (the Lakefront at Hamilton Street).

B.Y.O. chair or a blanket and join us for this beautiful annual outdoor collaborative Eucharist with leadership from the five parishes. I will be the preacher for this year’s service.

Note: There will be NO worship service held at St. A’s this Sunday morning.

I strongly encourage you to join us for this lakefront service. There is something special about seeing folks from other churches that adds delight and dimension to the worship experience.

Here are a few more helpful details and reminders:

Parking: The City of Evanston offers paid parking all along the lakefront for visitors. If you are not an Evanston resident, you can pay to park next to Elliott Park, or you can find free street parking along side streets a block away.

Offering: The open plate collection (donations not specifically designated for one of the five churches) at the service will go to support Interfaith Action of Evanston. Interfaith Action of Evanston is a non-profit, 501c3 organization that supports people who are hungry or homeless in and around Evanston. Your contribution will help support the overnight and weekend day shelters from October through May, the year-round morning shelter at the Hospitality Center, and soup kitchens in faith communities across Evanston. Additional support goes toward events that promote interfaith dialogue and understanding within the community.

Weather: Should inclement weather force us indoors, we will decide by 8:30 a.m. to move the service to St. Luke's, and we’ll send out an email letting you know of the change. We will also post the announcement on our Facebook page.

Online Worship: No service will be held on-site at St. A’s this Sunday, and this outdoor service will not be livestreamed. For those who prefer to worship remotely, consider tuning in here to Washington National Cathedral’s Eucharist at 10:15 a.m. CT.

See you at the lakefront!

In peace,

Shannon
