Reminders...

Volunteers Wanted for This Year's Out Raleigh Booth

We are looking for volunteers who would be interested in helping out with The Church of The Good Shepherd's Out Raleigh booth on Saturday, June 27th. This is a great opportunity to get out in the community and truly show that "the Episcopal Church welcomes you". Volunteers that sign up with Michael before this Sunday, May 31st will receive a T-shirt. To volunteer, please write to Michael Springston with your availability on the 27th and your shirt size.

Young Adult Lunch Meeting

You may have noticed that quite a few young adults have joined The Church of the Good Shepherd over the past few months. This is an exciting development and tells us that the Holy Spirit is at work in this community. Now that we have a critical mass of folks in their 20’s and

30’s, we would like to bring that group together to talk about how the church can best meet their needs.

With that in mind, we would like to invite all young adults affiliated with Good Shepherd to a lunch meeting after church this Sunday, May 31st at The Raleigh Times. This luncheon will be an opportunity for folks to get to know each other and talk about the future of young adult ministry at Good Shepherd. If you are planning to attend, please RSVP here.

Green Team Meeting - All Are Invited!

Do you have ideas for how our church could be a better steward of God's creation? Do you wish you could be more environmentally conscious at home/work but don't quite know where to start? The Green Team is seeking members as well as those who may be interested in helping with projects. Read more about the Green Team in in our Blog and in this PowerPoint. Since November 12, 2024 our Green team has collected 462 pounds of batteries. Also, since June 2025, in less than a year, they have collected 1,800 pounds of compost! The next Green Team meeting will on Zoom on this Monday, June 1st at 4 PM. Join Zoom Meeting

Out & About Potluck Supper

OUT & ABOUT is a longstanding CGS supper group affirming our LGBTQ families & friends. This originated +30 years ago by our then Director of Music, Maestro Eric Ennis. We continue this lovely supportive tradition regularly during the year at a host's home for a potluck meal, fun and fellowship. Our next supper is Sunday June 14th at the home of Lisa and Perry Jennings, The Dawson@317 Morgan Street, apt. 512. Know anyone who would like to join us, interested in hosting or co-hosting a future potluck supper? Just reach out to: Brother Paul Henry OSF by text at 954-448-8931. ALL ARE WELCOME!

Outreach Collection Drive

We are pleased to announce a new Outreach collection drive that will support unhoused students at Enloe High School. It's the McKinney-Vento Program. Read more about it here. Currently, there are 82 Enloe students that are unhoused. After school ends on June 12th, some resources these students rely on to help their daily living a bit better will end, until summer resources programs kick-in. • Assorted nuts
  • Beef sticks or jerky

Read the Bible in a Year Challenge

We are excited to have begun our Read the Bible in a Year Challenge - a guided, community‑centered journey designed to help participants engage Scripture daily through simple, flexible, and accessible tools. This program blends personal reading, shared listening, and group reflection so that everyone—whether reading independently or joining others—can read through the Bible together. Though the challenge officially began this past Sunday, May 24th, all are still welcome to join! Please email Michael Burkhart if you have questions or plan to join us! White Flag Wrap Up

This winter was The Church of the Good Shepherd's first serving as a primary White Flag emergency shelter for unhoused men. For those who aren't familiar with this ministry, White Flag nights are activated when the forecast calls for overnight temperatures of 35 degrees or below. On those nights we welcomed those without warm places to go into Shepherd's Hall where they were given a hot meal and a place to sleep for the night. The table below serves as a snapshot of our program and participation.

Please see the complete letter from our White Flag Steering Committee accompanied by a similar summary from our friends across the street at First Baptist Church who were a White Flag emergency shelter for unhoused women.
