Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you,
which you have from God, and that you are not your own?
For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.
2 Corinthians 6:19-20
A Memo to the Occupant
I hope y’all will excuse me while I lecture myself for a while.
Okay, Mark, it’s time to get moving. I know it’s cold and it still gets dark at 5:00 pm, but get on with it. I’ve set your timer to go off every hour. At least once an hour, get up and move around.
Oh, and rest. Not just sleep. Rest from screens; rest from solving stuff; rest from emotional struggle (whether its outbursts or hiding); rest from interaction with others.
And look around. Look for vastness, Mark, in the night sky or the limbs of the trees outside. Look at the patterns in the frost or the soap bubbles in the sink.
And play some music. Not what the radio force feeds you. Find an artist and listen to their whole album or their catalogue! And read a book, not just for your next presentation, read to be transported.
Apparently, Mark, your 66 inch height is some kind of temple. Not only that, but God has you on the divine temple property list! I’m sure you can think of better looking temples out there, but God seems happy with your model. God even paid a price for you.
And give God the glory. I mean there is nothing that God didn’t give you, so reflect back a little gratitude, and wonder, and praise.
Thanks folks. I was really taken by what Paul says in Sunday’s epistle. Every now and then, I just need to give myself a good talking to! If you want to start something new, try an Awe Walk … it’s working for me. https://ggia.berkeley.edu/practice/awe_walk

Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illumined by your Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ's glory, that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
