Parish News & Updates
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you,
which you have from God, and that you are not your own?
For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.
2 Corinthians 6:19-20

A Memo to the Occupant

I hope y’all will excuse me while I lecture myself for a while.

Okay, Mark, it’s time to get moving. I know it’s cold and it still gets dark at 5:00 pm, but get on with it. I’ve set your timer to go off every hour. At least once an hour, get up and move around.

Oh, and rest. Not just sleep. Rest from screens; rest from solving stuff; rest from emotional struggle (whether its outbursts or hiding); rest from interaction with others.

And look around. Look for vastness, Mark, in the night sky or the limbs of the trees outside. Look at the patterns in the frost or the soap bubbles in the sink.
And play some music. Not what the radio force feeds you. Find an artist and listen to their whole album or their catalogue! And read a book, not just for your next presentation, read to be transported.

Apparently, Mark, your 66 inch height is some kind of temple. Not only that, but God has you on the divine temple property list! I’m sure you can think of better looking temples out there, but God seems happy with your model. God even paid a price for you.

And give God the glory. I mean there is nothing that God didn’t give you, so reflect back a little gratitude, and wonder, and praise.

Thanks folks. I was really taken by what Paul says in Sunday’s epistle. Every now and then, I just need to give myself a good talking to! If you want to start something new, try an Awe Walk … it’s working for me. https://ggia.berkeley.edu/practice/awe_walk

Peace,
Mark +

Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illumined by your Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ's glory, that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Christian Formation

Our focus this week is on spreading the light of Jesus to others. Winnie shares her love of all by greeting them with joyful barks and tail wagging. Spreading joy and light to others is always a good thing.

This week in John 1:43-51,we learn about how Jesus begins to assemble his disciples and their happiness and excitement at being asked to follow him. When something good happens to you, don’t you want to tell your friends all about it? That is how Phillip felt when Jesus asked him to become one of his disciples. Phillip did the most natural thing. He hurried to tell his friend Nathanael all about it. We all love to share good news. Jesus brings much light and happiness into our lives. Let’s share that with all of our friends.

Peace,
Miss Lisa and Winnie
Meals Needed for Shelter

We are asking your help by providing an evening meal for our SIX guests at Haven Ministries any night between Jan 30-31 and Feb 27 -March 1. We need a main dish-meat and veggie casserole or pasta type casserole with a side of bread/roll. A green salad would be nice also. We cannot use the kitchen at KIUMC for any type of cooking so the casseroles should be fully cooked and ready to serve when dropped off.

If you would like to volunteer for any of the nights please contact Leslie Schneider at 410-310-4085 or lschneider3@msn.com
