Parish News & Updates
Communion under Special Circumstances
Yes, we have been a long time without gathering for Holy Communion. I hear regularly from parishioners asking when we will be able to receive the Sacrament. I am happy to report that we are ready to take a small step.

In a Pastoral Directive dated December 17, Bishop San wrote to the clergy encouraging us: “I am authorizing the use of the Order of Service under Special Circumstances (BCP 397) with adaptations to accompany its practical implementation. Clergy are encouraged to be flexible and adaptable to their unique context and circumstances.” This coming weekend, we will take advantage of this authorization.

Question: How will I get the Consecrated Bread & Wine?

  • You can pick up the Sacrament at Church this Saturday, Jan 9, between 9:30-Noon or this Sunday, Jan 10, between 8:30- 10:00 am.

  • You can call Connie Clark (410-304-2301) or email srwarden@ccpki.org to arrange a delivery to your doorstep.

PLEASE specify how many individuals will receive so we can send the right amount.

You will have the opportunity to get your Offering Envelopes for 2021 along with your Communion.

We will also receive any offerings (including non-perishable food items) at that time.

Question: How do I take communion?
  • Every Communion Serving will include a brief order of service.
  • The Order of Service includes some simple preparation tips.
  • You can receive immediately by yourself or with your household.
  •  You can join Parish Leaders for a brief Zoom service at Noon on Sunday 1/10
  • You can receive as you watch the regular Sunday Service on the Website.

Question: What do I do when I finish receiving?

  • You are asked to rinse out the communion cup before disposing of it.
We look forward to your feedback about this experience. We plan to do it again from time to time.

I am grateful to Lisa Oesterling, Connie Clark, Anne Sieracki and the EfM Group for helping to make this possible.

Peace,
Mark +

Christian Formation

This week on “Wednesdays with Winnie” we talk about what it means to be baptized and the ritual of baptism. Children are encouraged to talk to their families about their own baptism and what it means to their families.

Although we just celebrated Christmas and the birth of Jesus, our gospel lesson this week from Mark 1:4-11, is about Jesus as a man beginning his ministry. In “Lessons with Lisa” the story of Jesus’ baptism in the river by his cousin John is told along with the words they both heard God say, “I am so glad you are my son!”

As we look at Jesus’ ministry we see that he often asked others to help him. He also tells us that he is loved by God and so are we. How can we show other people that they too are loved by God? Let’s all look for opportunities this week to show people the love of God. I would love to hear your story of how you shared that love. formation@ccpki.org

Peace,
Miss Lisa and Winnie
Meals Needed for Shelter

We are asking your help by providing an evening meal for our SIX guests at Haven Ministries any night between Jan 30-31 and Feb 27 -March 1. We need a main dish-meat and veggie casserole or pasta type casserole with a side of bread/roll. A green salad would be nice also. We cannot use the kitchen at KIUMC for any type of cooking so the casseroles should be fully cooked and ready to serve when dropped off.

If you would like to volunteer for any of the nights please contact Leslie Schneider at 410-310-4085 or lschneider3@msn.com
