News from St. Patricia Parish
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength." -Mark 12:30
Dear Parishioners,

The Feasts of All Saints and All Souls help us to look to the exemplary people of faith who have helped us understand what Christian spirituality means and how to apply it to our daily lives. The great intellects, the people of deep mystical prayer, and the ones who brought people together in community, despite hatred and bigotry, witness to all of us the “spiritual non-negotiables.”
The spiritual non-negotiables: the importance of community worship, the imperatives surrounding social action, and the centrality of our belief that God became one of us to set us free to serve, were made manifest by this cloud of witnesses, human beings like ourselves. The canonized saint and even our respected deceased relatives help us to answer the  question that haunts us all, “What is spirituality?” In the lives of the people we admire, we see how we are to channel that inner restlessness — those deep desires that gnaw at us all — into a healthy spirituality...
Thank You, Mr. Devin Christianson, St. Patricia Director of Maintenance for your 29 years of faithful service!
On Monday, October 25th, Devin announced to the Parish Staff that he would be leaving St. Patricia Parish on November 5th. He shared that a wonderful opportunity arose that would advance his career and enable him to better provide for his family in the years ahead. We are sad to say goodbye but incredibly blessed to have had the honor of working with and knowing Devin for these past 29 years. We wish him and his family the very best for the future! Though Devin may be moving on, a piece of his heart will always remain here at St. Patricia.

A Thank You Mass will be said on Saturday, November 6th at 4:00 p.m., and a pizza reception will be held in the school hall. Please RSVP to the Rectory (1-708-598-5222).

We are grateful for all his hard work and kindnesses! Please be sure to thank him with your presence, or write him a short note of gratitude to the address below.

Upcoming Events - Mass of Remembrance
Each year in the month of November, we gather for our Annual Mass of  Remembrance — this year on Tuesday, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in our Church. The names of the deceased, whose Funeral Masses were celebrated here since November 2020, will be sung in their memory, and a candle will be provided to one family member or friend. We ask that one person, representing the family, bring up the candle during the Mass. All are invited to attend this Mass for All Souls’ Day. Any questions, please contact Missy at 708.598.5222.
Canceled - Flu Shot Clinic 10/31/21
Please note that there will not be an onsite Flu Vaccine Clinic this Sunday, 10/31 in the Parish Center. The clinic was canceled due to low registration. Thank you.
Upcoming Events - HNS New Member Night
St. Patricia Religious Education News
This past Sunday, we celebrated the Investiture Mass with this year’s Confirmation Candidates, their sponsors, and their families. After Mass, the candidates attended a retreat with their sponsors to talk about different spiritual aspects of their lives. Throughout the year, the candidates will participate in various activities with their sponsors, strengthening the bond with each other and with the Holy Spirit. Please keep our Confirmation Candidates in your prayers.

Tuesday evening, Fr. Chris and I led a prayer service in honor of the Saints of God, in
anticipation to All Saints Day. We are also preparing two of our students for the Sacrament of Baptism. They will be receiving this blessed sacrament during the month of November. Please keep them in your prayers.

Thank you for your continued support! May God bless you and your family!
In Christ,

Our 2021 goal is to raise funds toward the renovation of our School Hall (lunchroom) including installing air conditioning in order to expand our after-school enrichment programs. Funds are raised by raffling off prizes through our private Bobcat Bonanza Facebook group. Join our group, share with friends and family, and support St. Patricia School! Click the button below or scan our QR code and it will take you directly to our group page. This is a private group to fundraise for St. Patricia School. Have fun and score some awesome stuff! Volunteers Needed
We are in need of Eucharistic Ministers for Weekend Masses!
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Ms. Missy Keegan at mkeegan@stpatriciaparish.com or call the Parish Office at (708) 598-5222.
Alpha
Alpha is a program designed particularly for people who would not describe themselves as Christians or churchgoers. It is a series of 15 interactive sessions, typically completed in 11 weeks, including a weekend away, where anyone can explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open, and informal environment. Everyone is welcome! There is no charge to attend Alpha – it is free! After a small meal and time spent getting to know one another, a short talk and group discussion will follow. We are looking for volunteers to be part of this wonderful team to serve as Hosts or Helpers. We will have training sessions twice a year. Please view the video below for an overview of the program.

Please contact Missy Keegan (708) 598-5222, mkeegan@stpatriciaparish.com if you have any questions, want to participate in Alpha (or know someone who would like to), or want to be a volunteer as an Alpha Host or Helper.
