News from St. Patricia Parish
"Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth. To him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen."
-Revelation 1:5, 6
Dear Parishioners,

During the month of November, we remember the faithful departed who have gone before us. As we look forward to Thanksgiving and the Christmas Holidays, the losses we have experienced often are felt more acutely. In our grief, we pray for our loved ones and we try to remind ourselves that all who die in faith simply walk through another door and are with God, and are still with us. We believe this because Jesus makes this promise.

When we feel the sting of death at the loss of a loved one, we sometimes feel that we have to pretend. We talk. “How about those Bears?” We pretend to be normal people, having normal lives. We pretend that everything is perfectly okay. But, when alone, we cry...
Announcements
Welcome Mr. Fred Villegas - St. Patricia Music Director!
I am pleased to announce that Mr. Fred Villegas accepted the position of Parish Music Director, beginning December 13, 2021. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music and is certified as an elementary education teacher with five years of experience as an Ecclesial Musician. The scope of this role is to discern, plan,  prepare and implement ongoing music opportunities for everyone in the Parish. He will also be our part-time Music Teacher in our school.

“Thank you” to Mrs. Christine Ramos who stepped down from this position last spring and our dedicated organists and cantors who have served the parish for many years.

Last week, Mr. Villegas met with our accompanists, Mary Anne Callahan, Karen Distel, and Sharon Pospishil to begin to plan for the holidays.

WELCOME, Mr. Villegas!

Father Peter Paurazas' Blind Auction/Rummage Sale - Nov. 20-21
Dear Parishioners:
As you know, Father Peter is residing in an assisted-living facility. Although Father Peter is doing well, he does not have the room or need for some of his personal possessions. Father Peter would very much like to share the items with you that he can no longer use. Please help Father Peter turn these treasured possessions into funds for his current care.

AUCTION ITEMS—BLIND AUCTION ITEMS: You may view many of the Blind Auction items in person; however, some larger items will only be pictured (examples below):
AUCTION ITEMS WILL BE AUCTIONED IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:
1) Each auction item will have a starting bid amount.

2) You may place a bid for the item you are interested in by enclosing your bid, along with your name and phone number in a sealed envelope, and then hand it to one of the Holy Name Members attending the tables. You may also turn in your bid by dropping it in the Rectory’s mail slot until the AUCTION CLOSES on November 29th. Please Note: all Auction items have been assigned an opening minimum dollar amount bid.

3) ALL BIDS will be OPENED on November 30th, and the Auction items will be presented for pickup to the highest bidders. Since this is truly a BLIND Auction, and you will not know what others are bidding, you may submit multiple bids if you feel your original bid was not what you thought it should be.

RUMMAGE SALE ITEMS: Rummage Sale items will be on display this weekend in the Gathering Space on Nov. 20th and 21st, and are available for immediate delivery. We will have a suggested donation amount for each item displayed.

St. Patricia Religious Education Good News
This week, all of our RE Families, teachers, and volunteers gathered together at our Thanksgiving Mass. Fr. Mike Meany and Fr. Chris Kituli celebrated the Mass and our fifth graders volunteered to be the readers of the Word of God. During Mass, seventh-grader, Alexander R., was baptized into our Catholic faith. It was wonderful to have our RE community, along with Alex’s family, share in experiencing this beautiful sacrament. Welcome, Alex! I’m sure God has great plans for your life!

Thank you for your continued support! May God bless you and your family!
In Christ,
Christine Ramos, RE Director

Our Faith in Action - World Kindness Day

St. Patricia students shared positive affirmations to their classmates all week leading up to World Kindness Day and displayed them on classroom doors and in the hallways. You may never know the impact your kindness can have on others, but it makes a big difference. Throw smiles and positive words like confetti not just on Kindness Day, but all days, and make the world a kinder place!

Alpha
Alpha is a program designed particularly for people who would not describe themselves as Christians or churchgoers. It is a series of 15 interactive sessions, typically completed in 11 weeks, including a weekend away, where anyone can explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open, and informal environment. Everyone is welcome! There is no charge to attend Alpha – it is free! After a small meal and time spent getting to know one another, a short talk and group discussion will follow. We are looking for volunteers to be part of this wonderful team to serve as Hosts or Helpers. We will have training sessions twice a year. Please view the video below for an overview of the program.

Please contact Missy Keegan (708) 598-5222, mkeegan@stpatriciaparish.com if you have any questions, want to participate in Alpha (or know someone who would like to), or want to be a volunteer as an Alpha Host or Helper.
