News from St. Patricia Parish
“Jesus said to Simon, “Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.” - Luke 5:4
Dear Parishioners,

Pope Francis has called for a Synod for October 2023 with the theme For a Synodal Church: communion, participation, and mission. The Pope said clearly: “the Synod is not a parliament or an opinion poll; the Synod is an ecclesial event and its protagonist is the Holy Spirit. If the Spirit is not present, there will be no Synod.” (Opening Address, October 9, 2021)

Pope Francis invited the whole world to share reflections on “journeying together.” How are we to do that?

Our Holy Father said we are to encounter, to listen, and to discern...

St. Patricia School Good News
Our Faith in Action

This year's Catholic Schools Week celebrations began with families and St. Patricia School staff attending Mass and snapping photos with our Pastor, Fr. Mike Meany! We love seeing the St. Patricia Pride!
Celebrating Our Nation - Flag Raising Ceremony

St. Patricia students and staff gathered alongside members of the Knights of Columbus, parishioners, and Veterans to honor the Flag this past Tuesday.

SPS also partnered with Kruse Krews to support our troops during Catholic Schools Week! Mr. Kruse, an army veteran, and his group has been supporting active-duty military men and women stationed overseas for almost 20 years through care packages stocked with a bit home and essential goods.  Students collected over $1100.00 to purchase goods for the soldiers and created personal goodwill messages and cards to thank them!
Athletics News
St. Patricia's Spring Sports season is just around the corner! Registration forms and payments are due by 2/13/22. Please download below, fill out, and return to the school office with payment.

We are in need of coaches for our spring soccer girls’ & boys’ teams along with coaches for our boys’ volleyball teams. We are looking to create teams K-8 in soccer and 4-8 for volleyball. Coaches and coaches’ families are not asked to help with concessions and all coaches must be Virtus certified and in compliance with the Chicago Archdiocese volunteer requirements.

Please consider joining and helping us create a fun, team environment for the students and youth of St. Patricia School & Parish. If you are interested or have questions please contact our school’s athletic director Ray Fischer. You can reach him by email at [email protected].

Thank you, and we hope to see you this spring!

Alpha
Alpha is a program designed particularly for people who would not describe themselves as Christians or churchgoers. It is a series of 15 interactive sessions, typically completed in 11 weeks, including a weekend away, where anyone can explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open, and informal environment. Everyone is welcome! There is no charge to attend Alpha – it is free! After a small meal and time spent getting to know one another, a short talk and group discussion will follow. We are looking for volunteers to be part of this wonderful team to serve as Hosts or Helpers. We will have training sessions twice a year. Please view the video below for an overview of the program.

Please contact Missy Keegan (708) 598-5222, [email protected] if you have any questions, want to participate in Alpha (or know someone who would like to), or want to be a volunteer as an Alpha Host or Helper.
