From the Christian Outreach Committee
Supporting our local neighbors during this time
RARA has been inundated with requests for food. The article in this week's News-Gazette highlights the growing need as more people are losing jobs and struggling to pay crucial bills. As the article points out the demand last week was up 2.5 times that of a normal week. As time goes on that will increase.
At this time RARA is asking for monetary contributions and volunteers to work the drive thru food distribution at the pantry. These opportunities are found at
In future months the need for money will continue when rents and utility bills, currently suspended, will come due.
From Lynn Dent, United Way Board member:
"Many in our community have lost their employment and have need of resources to assist with housing security, utility services, emotional support, and food. The United Way of Rockbridge
is assisting the non-profit agencies that we support by further promoting their resources. We cannot do this without your greater reach. For those of you who have a Facebook account, please like and follow United Way of Rockbridge and share their posts when able. Thank you so much for your cooperation."
The Christian Outreach Committee is researching additional agencies that need support at this time and will share the information in future postings.
We protect our health during this time. This is a way to protect the futures of our local families.
Donate to The Bishop's Dollar Fund
The season of Lent offers each one of us an annual invitation to reflect on our blessings as members of the body of Christ. The movement to share out of our gratitude is one of the fruits of faithful reflection. Bishop Mark Bourlakas encourages generous support of
The Bishop's Dollar
