Easter 2021

Lanford Mission Emergency Fund (LMEF)

The Christian Outreach Committee on behalf of the Lanford Mission Emergency Fund (LMEF) expresses its grateful appreciation for parishioners’ generous 2021 Easter offerings.  With the lifting of the moratorium on evictions, these gifts have enabled and will continue to enable the LMEF along with RARA, Lex Pres, and St. Joe’s to assist with rent to keep individuals and families in Rockbridge County in their homes. Thus far in 2021, the LMEF has responded to 58 requests for assistance in the amount of $6459.00. The LMEF covers these expenses through COC grant money; your Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter offerings; quarterly draws from the Lanford Mission Emergency Fund Investment Account; and special gifts. Thank you again for your generosity and continued support of this vital Grace outreach ministry!

Prison Ministry

The Christian Outreach Committee Prison Ministry receives applications from paroled individuals for participation in a year long, comprehensive program that provides housing, employment, mentoring and other services. An application has recently been received from a promising candidate that will be reviewed by committee members; if approved, there is an immediate need for lodging. Realtors have stated the current inventory of local house/apartment rentals is at a historic low level.

Perhaps you own a rental property (1 or 2 bedroom house or apartment) in Lexington, Buena Vista, or Rockbridge County and are interested in leasing to the candidate. Christian Outreach Committee funds and Rockbridge Area Relief Association funds will guarantee payment for several months.

Parish support of this important and fulfilling ministry through donations of furnishings is deeply appreciated as is current consideration of housing a candidate.
