Worship Services

This Sunday, September 12 we will be worshipping outside on the patio in front of the church for both services. We have a limited number of chairs (+/- 40) so, if you can, please bring a lawn chair.


We will offer the 8 am by ZOOM and will post that service

to Facebook in the afternoon.

We will not offer either service by Facebook Live this Sunday.

Come and enjoy the fresh air Sunday morning!

9/11 Community

Commemorations

  • At Grace: 8:40 am to 9 am. We will follow the attached order of service of Prayers for Peace and Reconciliation from St. Paul’s Chapel.
  • Online: 8:40 am Bell of Hope: Prayers for Peace and Reconciliation | Trinity Church Wall Street (trinitywallstreet.org) Bulletin
  • At Washington and Lee on Stemmons Plaza in front of Huntley Hall: 8:46 am (the moment American Airlines flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center). Following the tolling of bells, President Dudley and others will address attendees. The program will include acknowledgement of W&L alumni who perished at the Pentagon and in the North Tower.
  • At Lexington Fire Department: 9 am Annual 9/11 Memorial Service.
  • At Glen Maury Park, Buena Vista: 10 am Memorial Service.

From the Minister of Music

SING TO THE LORD A NEW SONG!!!

Casavant Frères Organ #3941 arrives Tuesday, Sept. 14! She left Quebec Friday morning at 10:45 on a 53’ Truck so appropriately named: SPLENDOUR!!!

Pending no travel issues, the truck will be escorted by Lexington Police to the church for 8am unloading. Fabien Tremblay and Martin Côté will arrive Monday night to oversee the project.

Let’s meet the truck in the morning! Bells, whistles, drums, kazoos, open arms, and Welcomes! ETA is 8:00am. Lisa is helping finalize details with the City. Stay tuned!!!

Music Notes

The First Concert in the Newly Renovated Space will be Friday, Oct. 1: a Chamber Choral Concert with combined professional singers from NYC and Miami and SVU singers. Stay tuned for details! The ProSingers will also sing for Sunday morning liturgy, Sunday, Oct. 3, and will lead rehearsal with Grace Choir, Thursday, Sept. 30.


On Thursday, the Choir regathered on the Labyrinth, snacked, sang, and welcomed new singers Adele, Emma, Josh, Keith, and Rick. ALL GOD’S CRITTERS GOT A PLACE IN THE CHOIR! All are welcome! Contact Martha for details: martha@graceepiscopallexington.org

The Mission and Outreach Committee of the Gadsden Trust

The Gadsden Trust Committee, Gail Dickerson, Chair; Woody Sadler, Vice Chair; Jane Brooke, Secretary; Roger Crockett, Treasurer; Carol Gosse; Bill McCorkle; Mary Wilson will convene on September 16 at 4:45 pm in the Parish Hall for the 2021 third quarter meeting of the Gadsden Trust. The Committee will review third quarter grant requests that were submitted by the September 1, 2021, deadline and make awards. Four community requests and one third world request will be considered. The fourth quarter meeting of the Mission and Outreach Committee of the Gadsden Trust is scheduled for December 14, 2021. Fourth quarter grant requests can be sent to Woody Sadler, Vice Chair, and must be received by December 1, 2021. The Gadsden Trust grant request application can be found on the Grace website www.graceepiscopallexington.org under the “More” and “Parish Ministries” tabs.

Blessing of the Animals Blessing of the Animals will take place at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. services. Bring your pets (or a photograph or stuffed animal) to church for a blessing. Outdoor Blessing of the Animals will take place on the patio at 12:00 pm.

Usher Training—CPR, October 3 Save the date for our CPR training class being offered by Donnie McBrayer, on October 3 at 1pm in the Parish Hall. This is not a certification class, it is an information class on how to use the AED machine and how to perform CPR. You are welcome to come learn even if you are not an usher
