This Sunday's Prayer for the Transition

Gracious and loving God, you know us better than we know ourselves. Guide the Transition and Search Committee, Vestry, and people of St. Paul’s through this time of transition and discernment. We pray that your Holy Spirit continues to open our hearts and minds to new opportunities and ideas during our search for a new Rector.

Empower each and every member of our Parish to use their gifts for ministry to the fullest; to share their thoughts openly and honestly; to respect the opinions of others; and to encourage humility, patience, and joy during this time and always.

Finally, instill in all the people of St. Paul’s a glorious vision of the future; that, guided by your Holy Spirit, we may be united in love — with warm hearts, enlightened minds and open arms — so that we may gladly accomplish the mission to which you are calling us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Standing Committee Creating a Discernment Committee

Seeking Applications

Deadline to Apply is January 12th

The Diocese of Easton’s Standing Committee is calling for a period of discernment in the diocese following Bishop Santosh Marray’s announcement of his resignation as Bishop of Easton in the fall of 2026. Under Canon law the Standing Committee is charged with conducting the search and transition for a new bishop. Before undertaking that process, the Standing Committee is forming a Discernment Committee whose charge is to help determine whether our participation in God’s mission could be strengthened by collaborating or partnering with another nearby diocese. Applications are now being accepted to be part of this committee. All lay and clergy members of the Diocese of Easton may apply. If you know of some individuals who would be good on the committee encourage them to apply.

The Standing Committee has created a webpage on the diocesan website for issues relating to discernment, search and transition. A full explanation of the discernment process can be found there. Also on that page is an application form for membership in the Diocesan Discernment Committee. Applications are being accepted from now until the deadline of Sunday, January 12, 2025. The members of the committee will be announced in late January 2025.
