Ann of Green Gables said, “I love living in a world that has Octobers.” I agree with Ann, there is nothing more perfect then a sunny fall day. October is also the month that is set aside to remember miscarriage and infant loss. Miscarriage and Infant Loss is surprisingly common. Around 25 percent of pregnancies end in miscarriage. About 24,000 babies a year are stillborn (that means the death of a baby after 20 weeks). The same number of children die in infancy. I am so grateful that during October we have an opportunity to remember and honor the often silent grief of miscarriage and infant loss. I would like to share something that I have learned about grief.
Going through grief is like going through a tunnel. (I am claustrophobic so I really hate tunnels). Grief is the longest, darkest, worst tunnel there is. With a tunnel you really can’t go around it. You have to go through it. The same is with grief. At some point if you want to heal you have to go through that tunnel. In grief and in a tunnel it is easy to get scared, and lose hope. You are in the dark and you can’t see the end. The reality is that both the tunnel and grief have an end even if you can’t see it. As you go through the tunnel of grief God is with you and he is transforming you and making your grief something beautiful. When you come out of that tunnel you will still have grief (grief is the price we pay for loving someone and we never stop loving them even after death) but God has transformed it into something beautiful usually acceptance and joy.
St. Vincent’s would like to provide a light for all those families in the tunnel of grief. Please join us on October 14 at 7pm for a special mass remembering all the sweet babies in heaven. Even if you haven’t experienced this loss please come to the Mass and pray for those who are hurting.

THANK YOU
Last weekend, the parishioners celebrated the 60th anniversary of the founding of St. Vincent de Paul Parish along with the Feast Day of St. Vincent de Paul. In keeping with the ministry of St. Vincent de Paul to "bring relief to the poor," the parish families were asked to purchase and bring food to a Mass last weekend in support of the Parish Annual Food Drive. On behalf of the members of the St. Vincent de Paul Conference, I sincerely thank you, the parishioners of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, for your generous display of support of the conference whether it be in food donations or in financial support. Your generosity is very much appreciated. A special thanks is extended to Mrs. Stewart and the students of St. Vincent de Paul School for assisting in moving the food from the church to the garage at the Life House Monday morning. The food will be delivered each week by a team of Vincentians, along with a food gift card to needy families in the Federal Way Community. The monetary support is also used to help our neighbors with rent assistance. The parish office, when open, will continue to accept your food donations.

2021 Christmas Gift Cards for a Wounded Warrior
COVID 19 continues to make our annual Christmas Gift Card program more important and our collection a bit more challenging. Please consider supporting this program to support those who have given so much. Our Christmas Program to serve our Wounded Warriors is designed to empower the Warrior to make their own purchases during the holiday season. This give a gift card program targets specific needs. Our Gift Card Program is a way to say Thank You for ALL they have done to keep us free. GIFT cards in amounts of $20 to $100 or even more are greatly needed! GIFT cards to Fred Meyer, Safeway, Walmart, Target, Amazon, or gas cards to ARCO and Chevron are requested by our Wounded Warriors. Please stay to this list as these stores are in most areas and give the most amount for your dollar!
How can you help? Starting October 16, 2021, through November 28, 2021, you can purchase gift cards and mail them to the address listed below or drop them off at the Parish office during business hours
Why do we do this so early? To ensure that we are able to get these gift cards to the troops by December 1st. Please be generous, our goal is to provide 300 Warriors with gift cards. If you have any questions please contact Tony Robinson at Advocate@kofc7528.org
Thank you for your generous support.
Mail your gift cards to: Tony Robinson 31219 4th Ave SW Federal Way, WA 98023 or drop them off at the Parish office during business hours
