Dear Parishioners,
If you knew your dearest loved one was coming for a visit would you prepare for their arrival? When we discover someone special is coming, we suddenly shift into gear as we tidy up our homes and prepare for the joyful reunion. All the while our hearts are filled with a burst of love as we await their arrival. The things that once seemed important are easily put aside as we ready ourselves and our homes for the honored guest. This kind of waiting is not sedentary. This waiting invites us to participate as we joyfully anticipate the knock on our door.
The glorious season of Advent is upon us and begins Sunday, November 28th. There is an honored guest who longs to come into each of our homes, into each of our lives and into each of our hearts. How will you prepare for the coming of our Lord? What worldly distractions can you put aside this Advent season to make room and time for Jesus? The most honored guest the world has ever known is coming. Does He have an honored place in your life, in your heart?
While the rest of the world rushes to get through to Christmas, God invites us to slow down, to put our phones/technology aside, to be still, to experience silent moments when our hearts can receive Jesus and His gift of peace. This heavenly gift to be given to those who are ready, who’s heart and hands are open to receive.
This Advent season may each of our hearts sprout with renewed joy, hope, faith and love as we joyfully prepare with anticipation for the coming arrival of the newborn King.
“Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.” Luke 2:14
May Gods glorious favor be with each of you this Advent season.
With His joy,
